Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Interesting that McCarthy comments on the fact that Parrott is in that no mans land of travelling and training with the first team (but no first team appearances) and because of that no u23 playing time.

His last game was an u19 game v Read Star Belgrade at home on October 22nd.

Not good for his development.

Playing time is what he needs so starting v New Zealand for Ireland will be good. Just need him to play after that for Spurs (and Ireland)
It's a really promising sign when Mick McCarthy can spot the glaring flaw in your youth development process but your manager can't.

If we had persuaded Harry Kane to pull on the green jersey I doubt Parrott would be making many appearances on the international scene either.

Pretty cool for a 17 year old.

You might be right, but you're a fucking idiot if you think we're doing a good job of developing youth over the last few years.

hold on winks, skip, parrot. tangaga, roles and etc. are all youth products correct which are all trying to get in the first 18 of the squad true so how is it our academy not producing youth.

I'm not saying there's no youth there, just that McCarthy's point about there being a no man's land of barely playing isn't giving them their best chance. Roles might push on because he's got a loan, but Skipp and Tanganga aren't getting as much out of the current situation as they would a decent loan.

Not sure where the club stand on Roles either tbh, either he's a departure from the usual way of dealing with the highly rated youths, which would be promising. Or he's not that highly thought of which is why he's been allowed to head out, like Edwards and Onomah once they'd fallen out of favour.

Played 61 mins before being subbed - one of ,,6 players subbed on the night. McCarthy had s young inexperienced side out as an experiment.

Parrott got an assist for the 2nd of the 3 goals that Ireland scored tonight.

Edit :

Parrott had 2 shots on target (35 and 58 mins ) which had to be blocked or saved plus another players shot saved which would have been assisted by Parrott.

Academy are producing players up to the age of 18 or do.

Problem is in the 18 to 21 period.

Only Winks has come through to be in the first team squad permanently in the 6 years that Poch has been in charge.

Skipp, Parrott and Tanganga now in " no man's land, " between academy and first team - training with first team but very few games, and not playing u23 football.

Roles out on loan - will he come back into the Spurs fold, no previous loaned has under Poch.

Poch has done well in polishing players with proven first team experience eg Kane, but not in getting players into first team squad

Troy Parrott in the match day squad for Ireland v Denmark - an important match for Ireland in Euro qualifyers.

Doubt very much that he'll start but maybe brought off the bench as he played for an hour v New Zealand on Thursday so should be well rested by now.

Started for Republic of Ireland u21's after staying on bench for the seniors. Scored a well taken goal for u21's in a 4-1 win to send them to their first u21 finals ever !

Dortmund and Bayern are speculated to plot a transfer regarding Parrott...

Kind of weird (specially regarding Bayern), but if he is as talented as we are hoping, then it would make sense.

I hope he will get more chances for the senior side than this one lousy outing against League Two side. Wet Spam game at 3:0 with Kane being knocked down for number of times would seem quite reasonable moment when to bring young and hungry lad on.

Though ofc it is just early days and new manager has to understand what is happening with senior players.

Hope that he will be in the squad for Olympiacos game and could be brought on if scoreline is suitable!
