First time in months we have looked like Tottenham of old. Credit where credit is due. They could have strolled about to a 1-0 but they kept going and played with desire and pace. That’s all we ever ask for really. So well done.

the club again exposed themselves as money grabbing wankers. How did so many tickets end up with Red Star fans ? I am guessing it was a case of Membership fee and then a ticket ? Can’t dress it up as anything less than an insult to our fans. That it took 15 minutes to get any stewards involved is pathetic and the police numbers seemed non existent. Even in the second half as some Red Star fans moved from the main group to our area the Steward reseated them in with us ! How’s that work. Wankers the lot of them.

anyway, well done to the team. Please please please let this be the start of the recovery.

Probably because we played a team with two or three up front? Not the usual back 5 and bank of 4 in midfield to their credit.

Well... I dunno who the 'Red Star delegates' were... but about 500 MEAN looking Serbians all clad in black just walked down the High Road with a Police escort....

...and that's a ban on away fans is it?
Don't look like it to me!
My mate lives opposite the Serbian embassy. He says they all just went inside it, crying.

The police were probably too busy doing important work such as arresting fare dodgers on the tube - see the racism/apathy thread....

Red Star didn't look that impressive this evening, but 8 of those were in the team that best Liverpool 2-0 last year in Belgrade.

Think changing to 4231 made a big difference - players know and like it rather than the diamond which they seem to hate.

Difficult to criticise any of the players - nobody played badly although I'd guess Kane, Ndombele Son and Lamela were the stars with Dele and Dier both starting to look as if they are getting back into the swing of things nicely.

Glad to see Sanchez pairing Vertonghen at CB, think that's the way to go - without Alderweireld. Davies looked good at LB, Aurier' best match at Spurs perhaps but can he do it under pressure at Liverpool ? Ndombele as creative CM was excellent with Sissoko as DM looked good - don't think Sissoko is disciplined enough to carry that through at Liverpool, possibly change Sissoko for Dier or alternatively play a CM3.

The front 4 looked good with Kane playing his 9/10 role backed up by Son always capable of scoring goals, with Lamela working hard and being creative with Dele with probably his best performance since being injured in February.

Just hope Poch doesn't change the team round too much v Liverpool, and in particular avoids rotating back in Alderweireld and Eriksen whose efforts this season haven't matched other Spurs players.

You should tell him that. I'm not sure he remembers him either. He doesn't even look up or even consider moving the ball forward anymore. His first instinct is back. It just is. It's now become a tic it's so bad and predictable.

And having watched most of NDombele's games from the previous 2 seasons I can assure you your statement about switching them is wrong. I like Winks and think he definitely has a career here but he does not bring to the table what NDombele brings. Now if we could only get NDombele to bring Wink's workrate to the table then we'd have a player.

Just on a very basic level this is pretty disingenuous. Nobody is suggesting swapping Winks and NDombele around - ie playing Ndombele as the deep holder and Winks as the progressive 8. And I'm not even saying Winks gets a game as an 8 at all if Ndombele and LoCelso are fit and we have someone to play the anchoring role. But this nonsense about Winks just passing sideways and backwards is just that. Every single game I've checked the stats, Winks has almost always passed the ball forwards more than the other players playing in midfield with him, and that goes for when he's played in double pivots too.

My issue is that he's not the most incisive passer. He's never going to be able to make the kind passes that Ndombele makes (or Lo Celso for that matter) - few midfielders can - which is why some of us have wanted him for a couple of years - but then neither is anyone else making those kind of passes from our midfield. Dier and Sissoko certainly aren't - no matter where or how they are on the pitch. But at least Winks does look to get it and give it a lot, which in a possession based team is better than hiding from it and not giving it much.

I think until everyone is fit, and we get a proper 6, Winks is still viable in some capacity. After that, I think he becomes a squad player.

Really glad I didn’t sell my ticket tonight. If we play like that every game this season then I want Poch to be in charge for the next 20 years. I’ve had my doubts in the last few months but games like that make me feel again. I know the oppo were shite, but we had desire, we had movement, we had speed, and most of all we had atmosphere, proud to be there tonight

I would like to see this same team start on Sunday, I think they'll be bursting with confidence and could give the scousers a run for their money.

Not surprised by the result, the team selection was spot on and the team that should played week in week out. Eriksen toby rose are done. Sissoko is now a quality def mid. He has limitations on the ball but excellent defensive qualities. Ndombele will be top drawer, needs to play every week. Dele is a 10 nothing else. Davies should be left back every week

Spot on about Sissoko

Some posters on here can’t see that!!

OK, for shits and giggles, lets play this fucking silly game.

Which games this season are you basing this on exactly ? I assume it's not the Villa game where he lets Sausage McGinn run past him and score. And I'm sure it's not the Newcastle game where he just fucking ambles about and lets Atsu pass for their winner. And it couldn't have been the Woolwich game where we got ripped to piss by a bunch of shitters could it? Munich....nah? Can't be Brighton because he was busy letting them cross and score from RB. Can't be Watford..where he let Dacoure run off him and score ....Fuck I'm stumped.......

Let me guess, your basing it on tonight, because we managed to slab some shit cunts who've been been slabbed by everyone away in the CL the last couple of seasons.

And some people just can't see it....
