With N'Koudou gone, we've finally opened up an 'Overseas Trained' player slot. If the Wanyama deal goes through (as it seems on course to do) we open up two Overseas Trained player slots.

I'd suggest that opening up two slots for Overseas Trained players suggests we'll go into the January TW with the intention of buying one or two players - if suitable quality players are available at 'realistic' prices

It also allows Parrott to be named in our UEFA squad - as he has only been at Spurs for one season and trained in Ireland before he will be deemed to be 'Overseas Trained' player for this season - but an u21 for the following season.

The full squad (after N'Koudou has left)
The players are categorised by position and UEFA designation of Club trained (Club) and Trained by other FA Affiliated Clubs (Assn) or Under 21 (u21), where there is no designation the player is Overseas Trained

Gk’s - Lloris, Gazzaniga
CB’s - Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Foyth (u21)
FB’s - Aurier, Walker Peters (Club), Rose (Club), Davies
CM’s - Ndombele, Winks (Club), Dier, Sissoko, Wanyama, Skipp (u21)
AM’s - Eriksen, Dele (Assn), Son, Moura, Lamela. Lo Celso, Sessegnon (Assn) ,
FWD’s – Kane (Club)

There are a number of u21 players in the development squad who may also step up to the first team squad during the season including Parrott, Tanganga, White and others

UEFA Player Designation Summary

The squad shows the number of players designated as :

Overseas Trained (maximum 17) : 16
Club Trained : 4
Trained by other FA Affiliated Club : 2
U21’s – 2 (Foyth, Skipp, )
Total - 24 Players
Doesn’t Sessegnon count as U21 currently

Doesn’t Sessegnon count as U21 currently

Under UEFA definitions, a player needs to be with a club for a minimum of 2 years to count as an u21 player.

So Sessegnon will need to be treated as part of the named 25 man squad (although Spurs wont name a full 25 players) designated as a player trained by a club affiliated with FA, not an u21.

Same rule catches out Parrott who has been at Spurs for one year and as he trained with an Irish club before Spurs will need to be part of the official 25 man squad designated as an Overseas Trained player this season - and provided not loaned out will count as an u21 player in the following season.

Both will count as u21 players for PL purposes though.

Thought he was rated?

Why are we keeping Tracey?

Both very good questions.

Shashoua is a very good, but small, talented AM, but due to size might struggle to get into PL side before spending a couple of years in the gym - so might not play until lets say age 22.

Spurs don't currently have a good record in bringing technically gifted players through - Winks and Skipp are talented but a big emphasis on hard work etc, not the mercurial gifts that, say a Ginola or VDV, had.

Tracey has similar footballing skills to Sissoko - strong powerful running. Both are still at the club, question for Poch reallly.

Goodbye Nino (his nickname with Spanish n), hello legend

Teams cannot carry anyone these days. They all have to work hard.
Did you ever see Ginola play in an away game. Waste of space. VDV could never play more than 60 mins.
Ardiles was a great player. Worked like hell. That is a proper player. Perryman my favourite player...always performed at tough away grounds while the likes of Peters disappeared.

Ginola was the star player in a very poor Spurs team - you forgot to mention that nobody turned up away from that team

VDV joined us at the end of his career - hence often being subbed - but still one of the star players that got us to the CL for the first time in our history.

We are almost spoilt for choice with our team these days - way above the standard we had 10 or 20 years ago, and like all players today far more athletic and trained to run for 90 minutes, so no comparison with players from our history. But perhaps you could relate to Hoddle who was a highly creative player ?

If all the press reports are true, Bruges/Spurs/Wanyama have all agreed things. So unless an agent suddenly says he wants more, this is pretty much a done deal.

Might take lawyers a few days to get in contractual form, if it's not already, but hopefully all complete well before the end of this TW.

Looking forward to OS confirmation though ! And good luck to him ,- bad luck with injuries has cost him.

Don't see any other first team squad players leaving after Wanyama, but a few youngsters still to go on loan maybe.

I think we may let Eriksen go for a ham sandwich at this point just to get that situation dealt with.

Ouch.

Sadly think you could be right. But still prefer him to stay on s contract with a get out clause, given Real Madrid playing James and Bale at weekend. Impossible odds to call stm on staying or going imo
