Thanks mate
I think he's a great talent

Unless Tanganga is injured, if these 4 others are starting and Tanganga doresn't make an appearance, I'd guess that the player and club have got themselves in a standoff about a new contract with player wanting some assurance of playing.

Lets hope Tanganga is involved

Perfect opportunity – got the debut out of the way. Now let‘s see some more of him in the next few weeks.

Really looking forward to the Bayern game, to see how they get on.

None of the kids did anything special. Skipp probs the most effective stopping McNeil a bit.
But Troy debut out of the way and RS a few minutes.

Things aren't going well for Tottenham Hotspur loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Spurs loaned the USA international to Championship side Stoke City this past summer and despite a decent start to his temporary spell, he appears to be struggling at the moment.

Last week, the 21-year-old Tottenham centre-back was slaughtered by Potters fans for his performance in the 2-1 defeat by Blackburn Rovers.

And it looks like it's gone from bad to worse for Carter-Vickers, who was omitted entirely in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Hull City.

The loans policy under Pochettino was a failure. Quite average players who never really had a chance of making it here were kept hanging around far too long, like Onomah (who's struggling to make it as a Championship player), CCV and Walker Peters - the poster boy for the failed policy. Only the truly exceptional should not go on loan. And that's only Skipp and Parrott currently.

And that only applies, if they end up getting game time for the 1st XI. Otherwise, send them out on loan no matter how exceptional they are.

More work for Windy...loans set to explode...

And hopefully that means that Japhet Tanganga is signing a new contract before going on loan.

In the ideal world I'd like Spurs first team to have maybe 6 youngsters available to play some first team minutes when required - aged from say 18 to 21 so a maximum of 2 players from each year, but that also allows a variety of positions to be covered - provided that Mourhino is prepared to play them. And 6 players is probably the maximum that with the best will in the world that any coach can give some meaningful minutes (eg. maybe 30+ appearances spilt between all those players)

In some year groups there might be 4 or 5 genuine prospects at age 18, but only a couple will look good enough at aged 21, so whatever a number of decent prospects need to be sent out on loan. And that requires a professional Loan manager to not only arrange loans but also monitor the loanees - we don't want more accidents such as Caulker and Townsend with gambling or riotous behaviour or just not looking after themselves by always eating takeaways or pub food for example, and then there is monitoring the playing side. And setting up a network of clubs/managers who can take and help develop the loanees.

More effort - but so much better than 'developing in house' - but not really doing so'

Also pertinant to point out that the reason why Spurs have lost out on some youngsters joining ay aged 16 is that there is no obvious route to the first team - and that is why we might lose Troy Parrott if we do not play him. So a radical re-think of the youth development policy from 18-21 is definitely required - and I suspect has now reached a Board agenda due to its ramnifications

It's not as if it's difficult to find local clubs, there are a bunch within easy reach of Spurs Lodge so we can keep tabs on them/keeping them feeling involved, across all divisions:

Charlton
QPR
Brentford
Fulham
Orient
Millwall
Colchester
Ipswich
Stevenage
Cambridge
Peterborough
Oxford
Reading
Gillingham

Distance shouldn't be a problem though if we have a 'professional loan manager' monitoring what's going on plus getting the loaning club to 'keep an eye' on the youngsters/helping arrange accommodation etc.

Think its the coaching staff who are key - are they prepared to play them !

For example Oakley-Boothe is definitely one who needs a loan - and his E u17 coach is now coach at Swansea, do that should be high on my agenda as a possibility for TOB.

Likewise we had good relations with Wycombe Wanderers (top of League 1) with a couple of loanees maybe 5 or 6 years ago such as Jordan Archer (GK).

So yes geography should help us - but there's a lot of clubs with coaching staff who might be ideal.

And I wouldn't ignore some overseas clubs - particularly those in weaker leagues where time with a top club there might give the a very good experience. Leagues such as Netherlands, Denmark etc. Bt equally maybe a lesser club in the stronger leagues such as Germany and France. But obviously overseas there are 2 issues (1) Language and maybe culture (2) Less easy to monitor....and maybe Brexit !

Either way a lot of relationships to set up in a short time if the new loan policy is to start in January !

I would be willing to bet every single part of my reputation (lol) on the fact that Josh Onomah would be a far, far different player right now had he gone out on loan at 18. He was *fantastic* and you don't just turn into a bad player overnight. Still think he'll ultimately rise to the PL but he's been hugely hamstrung by the way we've 'developed' him in the same way that KWP has.

There's that, but I also very much like the Chelsea approach of using European clubs, where these kids will get good coaching and tactical development and play their first team football in an environment more conducive to youth and personal (ie out of the language/culture comfort zone) development.
