Poch's dislike of loaning out players could be hurting their development. Townsend, Kane, Rose all broke into the first team after having decent loan periods at other Premier League clubs. Pritchard did excellent at Brentford; but it seems the championship was his level, and our coaches spotted that.
Oh it is hurting their development.

To follow up on your point. If we have them out on loan getting games it will be much easier to judge were their level is.

KWP has been actively derailed by not going on loan years ago. Regular minutes is so important at that age.

Maybe the fact that one would have to go to meaningless pre-season game from 18 months ago to back up the wish to give Skipp playing time is kind of a reason why he has got none?

If we base our team selection on some mumbojumbo games, we'd start all the Marshes, Oakley-Booths, Amoses, Sterlings, Gregorious etc. But thatis not real life. His chance to prove anything came against Colchester. And he had a stinky in there (in Ndombele topic, someone hinted at universal praise that he received, while actually revisiting this thread here, it was way more like 50-50! and you like it or not, this includes own-academy-graduate factor already meaning most likely his performance was precieved more positively). This was his moment to prove something - against MOTIVATED full LINEUP of a SENIOR team. He did not use it, and he has not played much more up to now. All seems rather logical to me.

Hopefully he develops further and grabs next chance by the horns and turn out to be a world-beater and future starter. Right now he is physically weak and not good enough passer to be starting in meaningful games.

Skipp looked good THIS summer too.

Looked good in his senior cameos last season t'boot.

If you are part of his inner circle, Poch tends to play poor performing players into form, or at least he tries to, anyone outside that circle has to give a 9/10 whenever they are called upon to perform, seems a bit harsh as we will never really know how good some of our fringe players can be without regular playing time and if poch doesn’t want to give it to them then send them out on loan

But which young players exactly are you referring to here?
Winks - Was given plenty of chances, showed he has real quality and has made it.
KWP - Has been given loads of opportunities and has never shown any signs he'll be anything special
CCV - Never had the quality required, in the Championship now
Onomah - Given a lot of chances to prove himself, was never good enough and looks shit in the championship too
Edwards - less said about him the better (fair play to him for sticking one against Woolwich though)

I mean who else really is there? I keep seeing this rubbish about how "Poch never gives youth a chance", well he needs youth players that are better than the players we already have to do that. Our academy has produced one player of that level in the last five years in Winks and he's now a main man in our squad. Our academy is the problem, not Poch.

So KWP was voted MOTM in his first three games and grabbed a hat-trick of assists vs Leicester in one half yet hasn't shown that he'll be anything special?

Kyle has shown plenty of times that he has what it takes to be a steady Premier League fullback. Maybe not CL finalist level, but he has what it takes to play in the Premier League.

But for some reason Poch opted to play an out of form Trippier over both Kyl and Aurier last season.

Kyle should have been on loan ages ago so we would have more games to judge and rate him by.

Okay, that can be the case.
Or it can also be a combination of this and our methods - maybe KWP and Skipp could have developed more with a loan? With KWP though it seems unlikely, because at the end of the day he does not seem to be up for it physically.

But if it is the case that none (with sufficient quality have come through) then we need some changes in our academy, I'd say...

He was so good in preseason as well and looked very comfortable playing top level football last season. Difficult to understand how he can’t get a kick.

Poch’s reputation for trusting young players is a myth, he will never lose trust in Eriksen yet a bad game against Colchester can end a youngsters season.

Exactly.

Winks is the anomaly, not the rule. A lot of the youngsters that Poch relied on to oust the veterans where moved on as soon as possible as well.
