It’s mainly for national sides and NFL.
It's for our players too, for pre-match and for training recovery. Focus is on sleep as the most powerful form of recovery.

Only caveat to that would be however the manager is might have different ideas about pre-match (night before) preparation. Some might think there players are better prepared if they are at home with their families. (I know that Guardiola has all the City players stay at their concrete jungle at their training complex as part of their pre-match preparations). I've no idea what Poch's view is.

Not why it was built, but certainly a useful earner if they do ... the reasoning behind the lodge was that Poch wanted the squad all together before match days (Pep does the same) and, that it would be a major asset when trying to entice the world's best youngsters to move to our club ...

Instead of being placed alone in a hotel new players (and their families if needed) could stay at the lodge and quickly feel 'part of the team' ... having traveled the world as a player Poch puts an unbelievable emphasis on team building and team bonding ...

FYI - NFL teams on road trips are between 150-200 strong ... probably more for a weekend in London ... they tend to take over entire hotels or at least several floors ... when the hotel at Spurs gets built they may well use that, but the lodge will not be anywhere near big enough to hold all of them ....

So apart from that, it was a really accurate post?

Apart from that wasn’t the reasoning behind it because planning permission was submitted in January 2015 and this was devised well before that date- Poch only arrived in May 14. The real reason is that this is for third parties- national sides, club sides (overseas) and for the core staff of NFL. We submitted letters from AC Milan and Barcelona to support the application. The club wants to monetise the training ground and this is an effective means of doing that. I haven’t seen Poch mention anything along the lines of adopting the approach of Pep- although I can certainly see this being utilised from time to time. That said it clearly wasn’t the intention for this.

Do you think Poch took time out of his holiday the other day to visit it to make sure it's going to up to scratch for AC Milan.... :deledoubt:

So we built a hotel for other clubs at our training ground? is that what you're saying?

Here's an idea, let's see what Tottenham Hotspur had to say .... just a crazy shot in the dark ....

The Club is delighted to announce that its application to build a Private Lodge for player accommodation, on a site adjacent to the Training Centre, has been approved by Enfield Council.

The scheme will deliver high quality private accommodation for the First Team and Academy in an architecturally designed facility, and will allow the Club to create a controlled, consistent and familiar environment for our players to optimise rest, rehabilitation, recovery and diet alongside our world-class Training Centre.

Club Chairman, Daniel Levy said, "The Training Centre is already considered to be one of the finest facilities of its kind in the world and this unique and high quality environment will allow us to further improve the care and attention our players receive.

"The Club's First Team and Academy players are our most important assets and the long term future of the Club rests on being able to deliver teams that are in peak mental and physical condition. Everything the Club does, from the Academy upwards, is geared to achieving success on the pitch and this facility will play an integral role in supporting that aim."

The accommodation will be built on the site of Myddelton Farm, which the Club has owned since 2007. The design of the scheme will see the sensitive conversion of the farm making full use of its key features and heritage, and the design and building of a crescent shaped lodge.

The private lodge will contain 45 bedrooms and associated facilities including treatment, catering and other services, which would complement the state-of-the-art facilities already in place at the Training Centre.

The design provides for a flexible yet carefully designed space to enable the essential uses, which include First Team pre-match preparations, pre-season training, Academy matches, potential new players, injured players or guest teams.

What's the point in checking facts when you can just pull them out of your arse...

Primarily yes, it is means to monetise the training ground and that is an effective measure to do that. The fact that we supported our application with the support of other clubs and the fact that the first use of this site will be the Brazilian national team kind of lends to this postion. Was it the only reason for this? No clearly it could also be utilised by the club as well- I just don’t believe to any great degree. What we do know is that it didn’t have any thing to do with the rationale you laid out.

Stop digging ... the Lodge was built for Spurs, not as a holiday retreat for foreign clubs ... sure Brazil are using it when our players are all on holiday but that's a bonus not it's raison d'etre ...

"Will it be used by our club - I just don’t believe to any great degree" ... please, just stop ........

Digging? You are the guy who stated that this was devised by a manager who wasn’t actually at the club at the time. Well done.

Listen believe what you want- if you want to believe that players are going to have pyjama parties before big games knock your self out.

It was self evident the rationale behind this and here is the thing it is not even a bad thing- it is a shrewd move on our part to do that. Not only does it generate income but it is also markets the clubs infrastructure to non Spurs players.
