Think there was American football to blame too.

They were 2 separate issues. The Joshua fight fucked the pitch for the Barcelona match.

The NFL fucked it for the Sheik Mansour team and PSV fixtures.

Lots of cleaning work going on. Glass at South, the public realm around the stadium.

Big green crane and trailers in Park Lane (seen at start of video). Can only assume its to take down the last crane (not used for about a week I think) and allow the area under crane to be renovated which will help to open up access to the steps up from the West Entrance.

Setting up and clearing down Wembley for boxing is pretty easy ... the ring is the only thing that needs building and it's very basic ... otherwise it's laying down covering and putting out rows of chairs ... it's a few hours work at most

That makes me think how good NWHL could be to host a boxing match. Probably better dimensions than Wembley (would give the cheaper seats at least some chance of seeing the fighters), better hospitality, better lighting setup.

And don't forget the retractable pitch meaning it would be held on the lower, astroturf surface and cause no problems whatsoever to the natural turf.

The biggest downside would be transport links for that time of night.

NFL announces matchups for international games

The NFL announced Monday the five-game slate of international games for the 2019 season.

London's calling for four games and Mexico City will get another shot to host a Kansas City-Los Angeles showdown.

The quartet of London games will be split at Wembley Stadium and Tottenham Hotspur's new stadium.

Overall, it's a slate of intriguing games with a wealth of star players taking the international stage such as Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Chargers signal-caller Philip Rivers, Rams running back Todd Gurley and pass rusher Aaron Donald, Bears pass rusher Khalil Mack and Panthersquarterback Cam Newton.

Here are the 2019 international games:

Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers in Mexico City

Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers in London

Chicago Bears at Oakland Raiders in London

Cincinnati Bengals at Los Angeles Rams in London

Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars in London

A season removed from a scheduled showdown between the Chiefs and Rams at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City had to be moved due to poor field conditions, Kansas City will play its AFC West rival, the Chargers, at the aforementioned venue. Both teams will make their debuts south of the border on the heels of a season in which they each made postseason appearances.

As for the Rams, they'll face the Bengals. It will be the fourth game played by the Rams, the reigning NFC West champions, in London. It's also likely to be a reunion of sorts as current Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor is expected to be hired as the Bengals' next head coach.

Another divisional matchup will see the Texans taking on the Jaguars. No strangers to international travel, the Jaguars will be playing a home game in London for a seventh straight campaign.

The final divisional dance on the international schedule will be tilt between the Panthers and Buccaneers.

Finally, the Raiders will host the reigning NFC North champs, the Bears. Mack will have the opportunity to face his former team and coach in London.

Dates and kickoff times will be announced in the spring as part of the full NFL schedule release, along with the venues for the London tilts.

I was thinking that too, but with the boxing likely to go onto around 11ish and then taking he ring, seats down would most likely be around 5am Sunday morning before ground staff get to see the pitch, so I would rule out a Sunday match (no expert). Also IF we are still in the CL could be a midweek game that week (16/17 April: Quarter-finals, second leg) so that would rule out a Monday game.

Realise a lot of ifs and buts, just wonder if the club has thought about it.
The state of the pitch after the boxing is so much worse than after American Football- its what really fecked it up last year.

The big green crane is indeed taking down the last crane on site.

Cladding continues from the northern end of the east side of the stadium. Lots more infill of the main framework has been completed in the last couple of days - and from that its looking all but certain that there will be another 'non rectangular' screen (to match the west side screen on the east side.

Talking of the west side screen - in case you weren't sure what you were looking at, the screen can tell you (!) :

ITK over on SC say we won't be in the stadium this season but get this...

We will be making 1 or 2 signings this window.

:dembelelol:

Sounds like Hercules (ITK not) logic is that Spurs get lots of compensation for a late stadium which can be spent on a couple of players.

I'd disregard - just as likely to in the stadium in March and no players signed !

Went down there for the first time today, it was pretty immense. The sheer scale of it next to the High Road.
