I think because we didn’t sign players in the numbers needed for quite sometime we left ourselves massive work. We needed to buy probably about 7 players last summer and get rid of 4-5 and instead we just got 3 so we needed another big window.

To be fair if we get Gedson, Paitek and Bergwjin we are really only short a DM, right back can wait till summer. So we have fixed our mess mainly in good time if we have a stormer this window.

Whilst buying seven players would have been a massive ask but not impossible, the bigger issue was getting rid of the players we had and didn't want Eriksen, Rose, Wanyama, KWP, Llorente, Janssen plus sorting the contracts of Toby, Jan and Sissoko .... this is where Poch / Levy failed by only fixing 3 from these 9 issues.

To sign four new players whilst not dealing with six problem players already in the squad was the failure ... hindsight is easy but looking back entering the season with Eriksen, Rose, Wanyama, KWP, Toby and Jan all in a state of uncertainty was suicidal ... it's what cost Poch his job.

Hull City have instructed Jarrod Bowen that they will exercise their option to extend his Tigers contract, with the East Yorkshire outfit keen to retain the service of the in-demand attacker.

Bowen has been in prolific form for the Tigers over the course of the last 18 months in particular, netting 22 goals last season, alongside four assists. He’s taken that up a level too this season, with 24 goal involvements in the Championship (16 goals, six assists).

That’s seen the 23-year-old attract the interest of numerous clubs, with TEAMtalk crediting Leeds United with a firm interest in the attacker, who they attempted to sign on a loan-to-buy deal with a £3m fee up-front.

However, that was not accepted by Hull, who intend to keep Bowen on their books and plan on exercising the option they have to extend his deal until the summer of 2021.

Another 18 months on his deal gives them breathing space and doesn’t mean they have to accept the offer a club like Leeds have put down, but long-term, Bowen’s future remains a problem.

Premier League clubs will circle, whilst there’s always the threat of the Championship’s best picking up a bargain.

Further, long-term, contract talks are yet to materialise for Bowen and Hull, which has prompted interest from rivals like Leeds, who have been keen to bolster their squad with attackers this month.

A one year extension probably means he will be sold in the summer when more clubs might try to buy him, so Hull get closer to their £20m value - even if that includes 'add ons'.

My guess is Leeds and Newcastle (both rumoured bidders) are offering say £12m, so they don't want to sell at that price.

A move for the Dutch lad would kill any interest in this lad. It will be one or the other with the pace of Bergwin looking like a decider.

If we can get the team looking like the following for most of the season that remains, what do we think of our chances regarding silverware/ top 4?

[FORMATION=4321,Lloris,Aurier,Alderweireld,Sanchez,Davies,Lo Celso,Gedson,Ndombele,Dele,Son,Piatek][/FORMATION]

Gazzaniga
Vertonghen
Sessegnon
Winks
Lamela
Bergwijn
Lucas

Looks pretty decent with plenty of sound options right?

The fuck are we gonna do about Wanyama?

He's basically a massive disabled lump.

Maybe Celtic might buy him back in a fit of blind nostalgia.

He's refused decent deals before - Club Bruges manager was talking about £65k wages package last summer, think he is on £60k pw at Spurs.

Maybe he just likes London.

Problem is Celtic cant afford his wages let alone anything else.
