incredibly unhelpful "confirmations" regarding Newcaslte and Chelsea. Cunts.
I make it roughly a 3 in 5 chance the Newcastle match will be postponed, and a 1 in 3 chance the Chelsea match will be moved to Sat 31st March. We'll know for sure on the Newcastle match by the 18th, maybe 19th of Feb, so about a month before it. However we won't know for sure on the Chelsea match until the 16th March - only 2 weeks before the match.

It's normal to have matches postponed for the FA Cup, happens every season and could happen whether or not the Newcastle match was picked for TV. As for the Chelsea match though... that's fucking ridiculous. There's absolutely no reason why Sky couldn't just pick it for the Saturday 12:30 slot from the start, and avoid this uncertainty. In their wisdom, they've picked Crystal Palace v Liverpool for that time-slot though... with that one possibly having to move to make way for our Chelsea match!

Agreed - it's just farcical.

Can't see Newcastle being that weekend anyway so I'd say making it 'Friday Night Football' is just a bit pointless. TV companies probably have to do that in order to have dibs on the rescheduled date. So this will probably be the 'Leicester away' game for this season. Squeezed in midweek at the end of the season.

Fecking hell. Evening kick-offs galore.

19:45 on a Saturday is literally not a permitted fixture time under the current TV rights package. Don't know how they've managed to swing that one.

Well, I do, it's money obviously - but it's against their own fucking rules.

See this BBC article from December - states that Saturday 19:45 is being considered as a possible new kick-off time in the new rights package currently being bid on. Therefore it's not in the current package!
Premier League: Saturday night games among 200 on TV from 2019-20

It probably means that both clubs had to be asked but said yes.

City will probably have already won the league by the time they play us anyway. Won't quite be a dead rubber, but won't have anything like the same interest factor for non-Spurs fans as it might do. Sky could be shooting themselves in the foot.

I reckon Sky think they will win the league that day
