Might have been said before but what was going on with the scouting when we signed him?

Wasnt De Ligt playing in that Ajax team? We signed the wrong CB.

Feel a bit for Dav today - thankless task out of position at RB. But he is looking ever more like a bust of a signing. Yet to prove he's worth anything near £40 million

Sanchez wasn't good today but I attach no blame to him today.

I've said previously on here, with regards Foyth playing RB, it's a specialist position and you can't expect any player to fill in there and play well

I am not his biggest fan but I thought he improved a bit as the game went on. It says enough about how Aurier is considered at the club that he started at RB. He got a nose bleed anytime he went over the half way line.
Would rather we had never bought him but we've got him now and hopefully he will improve.

Ajax didn't want to sell De Ligt at that time and neither did he want to leave. He just wasn't available.

Our entire defence is getting steadily worse. Either Poch is screwing all of them or they are all going backward

exceptionally awful today, but if Aurier is fit, why not play him ( unless he is sold tomorrow)
I think Poch is trying to re-instill that unity and togetherness we’ve seen the previous seasons. If players don’t want to be here, why give them playing time? Not like Aurier is some quality player to have an excuse to play him like in Eriksen’s situation.

Not his fault he was put in the position he was never going to succeed.

Toby and Jan are way past yet.

Need to get Sanchez, Foyth and maybe even Dier up to speed ASAP!!

De Ligt has looked pants since moving to Juventus.

Buying centerbacks from Holland is always a gamble. They need time to grow in to their new clubs and roles and Sanchez had his development stunted by being pushed to the bench after his first season where he did really well.

We had an Ajax dude on here, 1½ years ago asking us how their 4 boys were doing.

I rated Jan, Chris and Toby very high (at their peak then). And then gave Sanchez an early-days-5-of-10. And fuck me, what abuse I got back then.

I would not like to say too much about his overall performance - it sucks to be put into a new position, specially in such intense game.

What I am more concerned about were some of the decisions he made just man against man. Just very regular defensive situations here and there... and he made absolutely awful decisions. Goals were never his fault, agreed with that as well, but we cannot make such mistakes either (at some point they will start to become goals!)

Fair points. But our most important thing is to stop the goals. Regardless of reputation, players need to prove themselves to be better than what we've witnessed so far.

He needs some stability. To me that means a strong run of games playing at CB.

He's still very young, especially in CB years. Poch was mad to start him at RB. Hopefully that's something we won't have to do again.

We need that top class 26/27 year old defender to come in on the left side of the defence and see through the development of both Foyth & Sanchez.

It’s early days this season but even last season both Toby & Jan were showing a decline, neither of them look to be quite the rolls royce’s they have been in past campaigns.

We may get away with it this season but not for much longer than that. Sanchez and Foyth are both too young to be the main men in any back line.
