That’s the one. Skippy looks for that pass a lot

Get yourself a double pivot in a 4231 of a guy who can accurately play that ball and a guy who can quickly and dangerously run into the space in front in that same situation and you're going places. The guy in Declan Rice's spot will be chasing shadows all day.

Winks and Ndombele.

People wanted Rice so bad. Why want Dier Mach 2 when we have actual, technical footballers.

As usual, we looked better with him coming off. Up until 55 minutes De Bruyne tore through this defense from finding little spaces between Winks and CBs that none of them tracked, and then crossing. That second goal is because De Bruyne finds a lovely position there and Winks is just jogging and marking absolutely no one. But Lucas comes on, Sissoko becomes a full time DM and suddenly he and Ndombele now chase every single City shirt at the same time.

The result: City still create heaps of chances but they’re mostly half chances, the AMs don’t get time to make a perfect ball. De Bruyne not nearly as lethal. Before 57’ they had 2.42 xG as per understat. Then Lucas comes on, Sisssoko DM, they have 0.81 xG next 37 minutes. Still bad, but not nearly as bad.

You're an absolute buffoon

Without Winks we had no outball and suddenly the MF was overrun.

You obviously hate the guy. Can't think why.

Winks and Ndombele passed really well for such a recent pairing

We looked considerably worse without him.

It simply resulted in Ndombele needing to hold midfield together by himself, which fair play to him he done his best.

Lo Celso ended up coming in and not touching the ball once. Eriksen giving the ball away every single time and Sissoko pointing to where he wants the ball to go so he didn't have to get it.

Kane
Son - Lo Celso - Lucas
Ndombele - Winks
Please Poch just give me this.

Height of stupidity ... without Winks we lost our tiny foothold on possession ... for a player under immense pressure from the best midfield in the EPL he batteled very well ... you sir are clueless.

I don't understand how a human being can't see the value in Winks honestly. ALWAYS our most composed on the ball, can control the tempo of a game. For the first goal it came from him finding Ndombele in space for a vertical pass which is really what they are there for (and really reminiscent of Dier/Dembele in their time).

Agree 100% - hwon’t make the bench at any other Top 6 club - useful squad player nothing more.

Fair enough if you don't know rate him, but don't know how you can say he wouldn't make the bench anywhere else in the top 6 when United are starting McTominay every week and Chelsea have Mason Mount and Barkley starting last week. Even Liverpool's midfielders individually aren't great (but they work together really well as a unit).

Sorry, mate - just don’t see it. He’s good at keeping possession when we need to protect the score but a game changer he is not and at nearly 24 night never become.

I agree, not a game changer, but I still absolutely love him and we need good squad players who care on the bench anyways. He's English, he's spurs, he's ours.

His so so good and so underated.

He holds his position, is always available for the ball and shields the back four.

Sure he doesn't stand out because his not a great athlete but his the glue that holds the team together.

I reckon his pochs first name on the team sheet every week.

I felt bad for him coming off yesterday but I bet he will be there against the barcodes making sure the play keeps ticking along and the defence are never without an out ball.

Yesterday showed how crucial his role is because city swarmed him when the defence had the ball, with no out ball up top they didn't know where to go and we couldn't get out . Hopefully thats something that him and N'dombele work on so that we don't find ourselves in that situation again. Although city's press is on another level to anything else out there.

We lost composure in midfield when he went off, we couldn't sting 2 passes together.

He was also terrible defensively, he was giving KdB so much space to deliver balls into the box.

It was standard Winks performance, great in possession beyond poor without possession.
