Sure there's a pic in the "Boys" book of Tottenham in the middle of the North Bank (Highbury). There was an occasion where Spurs went in the West Ham NB and stood their ground for quite some while.

Yes we were going to Luton away in div 2 and the usual hoards of Tottenham were at Kings Cross when we heard our game was off so we decided to go to woolwich v Walsall as they were playing the vermin in the FA Cup. We had a beer with some Walsall and persuaded them to come in the North Bank with us. We started singing come on Walsall but the nomads didn't even react so we chanted come on you Spurs and again nothing. They were truly pathetic. The midlanders were highly amused at our antics and were suitably appalled with woolwich. Great times and a total piss take.

Remember that day well I was one of about 200 yids in the clock end, was kicking off all over the place and word was going round that Jenkins who was supposedly head of their clock end mob did a runner after taking a good battering. police formed a cauldron around the Spurs fans until half time when some big black bloke with a Spurs scarf pops his head up from the gantry and says "oi we are a bit outnumbered down here can we have some help" which resulted in a massive surge through the police line and 14 year old me got bowled over - I ended up going to hospital with a suspected broken ankle (turned out to be only ligament damage). The very sympathetic st Johns ambulance driver was very apologetic when I said it was my first visit to highbury and he said dont worry son its not normally this bad but some horrible Spurs fans turned up because their game was off. I admit to having a warm glow inside and totally forgot about the pain in my leg.

Ha ha great memory.

My only time in the North Bank was for the semi=final replay against Wolves in 81 and it remains one of my best nights ever!

That was a fantastic night. I was right up at the front of the North Bank, to the left of the goal....Garth Crooks came straight at us when he scored. There was a moat between the stand and the pitch, which the Old Bill used. Remember telling one of them to take off his helmet as I couldn't see. He chatted me up and we went out for a few months. Didn’t last because he hated being second to THFC. Happy days :)

We had tickets for the North Bank that night, we got to Finsbury Park at midday and swapped our standing tickets for seats in the West lower. Only had to pay a couple of quid extra.
Glad we did as the North Bank was heaving, anyway it was easier to get on the pitch after the game.

My dad (RIP) was at both the Wolves games in ‘81. He wasn’t a copper though.
The Hillsborough game almost put him off for good after the monumental crush in the Leppings Lane end (that was ignored by all and ended with the disaster only a few years later)
But when he got back home at about 7am the morning after the replay, it had fired him up again no end. He never told me why & I guess I’ll never know.

I was involved in the crush at Hillsborough, but as i was slightly to the right of centre ,it wasn't as bad as some .Bad enough though.
I remember the replay ,walking up the steps of the north bank and a copper grabbing me and throwing me against a wall.I thought my dad was going to kill him,in fact if it wasn't for my brother and a sergeant who appeared pretty quick ,i think he would have done.I think my dad still viewed me as a kid(at 13 i was ) ,but i found the whole thing hilarious.Typical parent, didn't realise half of what i got up to when he wasn't there,i was used to that sort of thing by this time.

Went to both Wolves games and we had a phenomenal support at Hillsbrough and a joke that they gave them the bigger end, a decision by the incompetent pigs that was to have tragic consequences later. The replay was superb, like shaker we were in Finsbury Park before lunch (didn't want to miss kick off) and any pubs that had woolwich artefacts were suitably dealt with. I remember the fans in the North Bank singing 'we feel at home in here'. Hoddle was superb that night.

Also went to both. Was right centre at Hillsbrough and it was pretty scary, my mate made it over the fence and sat on the side of the pitch. Seem to remember bricks etc being chucked into the packed North Bank from outside ?

The replay at Highbury was one of those games where everyone in the ground knew that Tottenahm were going to win it.A great night
Was this the game Clive Thomas booked Hoddle? My memories maybe merging here

I only remember that we won and that Thomas gave a ridiculous penalty in the last minute of the first game giving me my worst hangover (only surpassed by Anderlecht in 84).

Haha i may have mixed my memories up.I know we had a real problem with Thomas after that.Truth be told he was a good ref,and always bigged up the NLD.I remember him being asked what was a bigger derby, Man u v City, or Liverpool v Everton? His reply was Tottenham V Woolwich
He was on the box refereeing a charity match once and commented, that it was like a North London Derby

As we're reminiscing about games against the Woolwich, I thought that I'd add my tuppence worth. First off, I attended a New Year's Day game at Highbury 1985, which we won 2-1. The end of the game comes and everything's great, wonderful start to the new year and we're singing 'one team in London' loud and proud. As the crowd thins out, I notice this guy who must have been 6ft 10in and beefy standing about 20 terraces up from the perimeter wall. Now I don't know if he'd had a particularly shitty Christmas or just didn't like Plod, but he was calling out to the 3 or 4 PCs stood on the touchline in front of him to 'come and have a go' and doing the hand gestures to beckon them over to him. I was waiting in anticipation to see how this scenario would end but the Law did the sensible thing and turned towards the pitch, acting as though they couldn't see or hear him offering them all out. The second incident occurred at the time when the pitch had the perimeter fence up but I can't recall the actual year. I was with my younger sister, a friend and my girlfriend in the Paxton, which was then designated a 'Family Enclosure'. About 10 minutes into the game a group of youths about 30 strong moved single file through the crowd passing by me and my associates and heading to the centre of the terraces and out of my vision. I remarked that they were Woolwich, I just knew from the shifty look on their rat-like faces. Anyway, about 20 minutes later we scored and the crowd celebrated as usual but as the din died down you could hear (and sense) that a row was occurring over where the Woolwich intruders had positioned themselves. They must have thought gate crashing the 'Family' end was a safe move and provided a soft target. Wrong. I couldn't make out who was putting up resistance, whether it was small groups of Spurs banding together or a larger mob, but within 20-30 seconds the feral Gooners were attempting to climb the fence to escape onto the pitch whilst others were begging the law to open a gate set into the fence, and let them through. Admirably, the plod just ignored them for quite sometime allowing a few more slaps to be administered before finally relenting and letting them onto the pitch and escorting the sorry, battered bunch up to the other end to join their rodent brethren.

Could have been the league cup game November 83.
Had my first job interview after school in Sloane Square ended up in the Paxton blazer Farah grey slacks navy and green tie and bass loafers.
In the middle behind the goal goons under 5 mob where in before KO the pints went up the signal...I caught one of them square in the arris to this day I can still see his face. They got kicked out and walked around into the park lane.
