Classless Modric

I’ve had a fair bit of stick with regard my views on Luka Modric – I really don’t see why? I’ve never suggested that he isn’t a fantastic footballer or questioned his obvious desire to better himself and career. Not once have said that losing him would be beneficial to the club, or that I’m NOT grateful for his efforts in a Tottenham shirt – even last year when his heart obviously wasn’t in it. ‘Ah yes, his dream move to Chelsea’…I forget – who was their manager last summer!? Funnily enough I think he won over a few doubters... Read more »

Strikers, strikers, strikers

Even the staunchest Defoe follower will admit there is no way on Earth that Jermain could lead the Spurs attack next season…completely on his own…and with Kane looking as if it may take a little longer than we had hoped for him to make the grade in the 1st team (if at all) we have no option but to buy strikers…fast. Links with Sturridge, Adebayor, Lewandowski, Remy, Damiao – and to a (far) lesser extent, Huntelaar, Higuain (dream on) and even Hulk (haha) continue to bounce around the media but we STILL haven’t signed 1, let alone the minimum 2... So rise Black Knight

With all else that is happening in and around White Hart Lane and the organisation that is Tottenham Hotspur, the forthcoming Olympics and some Brit riding his bicycle around France, it feels that the draw for the UEFA Europa League third round went largely un-heralded. And rightly so, some may argue. After all, who cares Georgian cup-winners FC Dila Gori could meet Anothorsis Famagusta – who qualified via a peculiar play-off system in Cyprus – in the next round? It’s a tin-pot cup right? Too many games and not enough prestige. I beg to differ at this point. A quick... Read more »

The Man Who Would Be King

Ledley King isn’t a Tottenham Hotspur legend, nay, he is nothing short of the personification of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. No one man will ever be bigger than the club, but the relationship can evolve past the realms of mutual exclusivity. Until death does them part, Ledley King will be as much as part of the club, as the club is a part of him. In time, he will grow beyond being defined by statistics and throwaway quotes from past opposition, but will instead be spoken of with the same air of grandeur as Bill Nicholson. In the same way... Future Prospect: Harry Kane

Harry Kane is a gem amongst Tottenham’s latest crop of young hopefuls, with a knack for finding the back of the net. Not 19 until the end of the month, he was one of the younger players to represent England’s U19 side in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Estonia, where they sadly lost to Greece in the semi-final. For the U19 squad he has appeared 14 times and scored 6 goals. On first glance this doesn’t seem to be a particularly good record for a forward, but it’s worth mentioning that he has also been played wide, in central... Read more »

Spurs ‘New’ Money

In football, as with life – there is rarely smoke without fire. Even the most far fetched of stories has a spark… The rumours regarding ‘new’ money at Spurs is certainly one that deserves attention and one that won’t go away. The signs are there, there’s a different feeling about Spurs at the moment. Obviously the excitement of AVB and the expectation of what the new regime will bring Is partly to do with that – but look a little deeper… There is a confidence about all connected with Spurs – almost like there has been a plan in place... Grow a backbone…

As we all know, football is not the most popular sport in the U.S. At best, it might squeak in at number five (behind American football, baseball, basketball, and hockey. I might even slot it down at #6 behind golf). I’ve lived all over the country, and even though I have not lived there in 15 years, I still call Kansas City home. I consider myself a fiercely loyal individual. As a result, I am a loyal supporter of the Kansas City Royals baseball team and the Kansas City Chiefs (American) football team. Although they each have a history of... Read more »

Naming Rights Arena

With building work (apparently) due to start on Tottenham’s new home ground by the end of the month, I’m currently enduring an internal battle of head and heart. I’ve driven across the Golden Gate Bridge, climbed the Pyramids of Giza, watched the sunset over the Taj Mahal and bowed my head at the Golden Temple; but my adoration for White Hart Lane eclipses everything else. It’s so more than a building to Tottenham fans, as I’m sure every home ground is to fans of every respective club, but we at Tottenham are ever the sentimentalists. The fact of the matter...
