At the end of it all…

Ladies and gentlemen. There’s a war happening. The most complicated war there’s ever likely to be. Its got more sides in it than both world wars combined and yet its battles are fought out in the smallest of areas with the simplest of weapons. There are no alliances. There are no treaties. Some participants are strong, they are in it to win the war. Some are not so strong, they are in it to survive the war. Soldiers switch sides. Weapons are traded. Damage is esoteric. Casualties are abstracted. Attrition is ephemeral. Peace is impossible. The war is happening for... Read more »

Love The Shirts!

Just before Christmas 2011, a small group of Tottenham Hotspur supporters decided to start an appeal that would affect the lives of a few good people in the southern African country of Botswana. Whilst the logical thing to do would be to set up a charity account to raise money to build a well or to help underprivileged children, the members of The Fighting Cock Podcast decided to buy 3 members of Botswana Meat Commission F.C. their very own personalised Tottenham home shirts. Quite how this came about was completely random. The decision was made by The Fighting Cock forum... Read more »

The Swagger of Spurs

By riksta71 It’s been written about before regarding Spurs sides of previous decades, but I thought I would apply ‘The Tottenham Way’ to our current side as I truly believe this is the best squad I have ever seen in my lifetime. It’s not the fact that we are currently joint 2nd in the best (and toughest) league in the world, or the fact that we are half way through January and we have only lost 3 games in the league. Audere est Facere and all that, and I too am starting to really believe we can emulate the great... Read more »

Tottenham Haircuts FC

Jermain Defoe – he loves scoring goals, bangin’ hoes and slammin’ Cadallac do’s. Or something like that. One thing’s for sure though, he needs to switch hairdressers. The new Sisqo look Jay Dee is rocking is unanimously shit, and makes me wonder if our predatory striker has a thing for thongs. It also made me think who would make our all-time worst haircuts squad. Here’s my selection: Goalkeeper: Ian Walker Ian stood between the posts at White Hart Lane for most of the 90’s replacing Erik the Viking. It’s just a shame Erik didn’t leave behind his Viking helmet though,... Read more »

THFC: Daring to Achieve

By ZoC I don’t want to come across as an old-fashioned, linguistic pedant but if I do, then frankly, I’m not bothered. Noel Gallagher made derogatory comments recently on television about the Spurs motto “To dare is to do”, as reported on a Fighting Cock forum thread by ArtyB. “It doesn’t make sense. You can do stuff without being daring,” said Gallagher. Clearly, as a City fan, he is concerned about the serious title threat Spurs are now posing and saw an opportunity to have a dig. However, Gallagher did have a point and it got me thinking about “To... Read more »

The Emergence of Gareth Bale

By drwinston001 If you’re a Southampton fan you’d say Gareth Bale’s emergence onto the footballing landscape came in 2006 when he made his debut. I remember hearing about a young kid who was good at free kicks and I was lucky enough to be in Southampton (as it turned out although that’s not how I felt at the time) when they were playing Coventry and having never been to St Mary’s got myself a ticket and saw this simian looking left back score a fantastic curling set piece. Like many other non Saint’s fans I watched his development from a... Read more »
