Choosing Tottenham

This is my first year of Spurs love, and I’ll pause a moment as those amongst you shake heads and mumble about bandwagon fandom. Done? Good; it’s a fair point but allow me to counter. I’m an American and began this most recent Premier League season declaring that I was going to watch all 38 games, something I had never managed before. Catching games is especially convenient for me for a few reasons. First, living in America and having roughly 457 television channels, I get to watch lots of football (I’m doing my best not to slip into saying soccer).... Read more »

Our 2012/13 starting 2nd Striker

As I watched the 2011-12 Spurs campaign unfold, a curious thing happened. The one-time LWB and current left midfielder Gareth Bale, started to roam across to the central part of the pitch. The most feared left midfielder in the Premiership (Sorry Juan Mata) is all of sudden occupying land in unforeseen territory. Was this by accident? Why is our most potent attacking force playing out of position when he’s arguably the strongest player in your league at that very same position? This curious aberration soon became an every game reality. It was against Norwich when he terrorised down the middle,... Read more »

Everyone Looks World Class on YouTube

Well the the transfer window has finally opened and transfer gossip and ITK is currently gearing up, before switching in to overdrive in the middle of August. As usual Tottenham have already been linked with dozens of players. While most of the players are familiar names (Kaka, Pato, Huntelaar, Lassana Diarra etc), every now and again an unfamiliar name crops up. These days it is easy to find out about these curious foreign superstars. Forum members will spend hours poring over the football oracles that are the Football Manager database and YouTube. “I’ve checked him on the FM database and... Read more »

Drama of the Drum

Whatever your view is on the drum, whether it is a nuisance with its constant assault on the ears, or a symbol of support for the club, the executive branch of White Hart Lane does what it does because they have the portentous view that they own you. Joe Lewis of ENIC International, the Board of Directors, and Daniel Levy sit around the table measuring what you, the supporter, are are willing do. Burn your tickets in protest? Convince numbers to boycott? The front office conduct themselves in a manner that even if Spurs supporters where able to mount any... Read more »

Why City/Chelsea winning makes me a proud Spurs fan

The email read out in episode 44 of the podcast. Alright Gents. Lots of talk about scum/bluscum reactions to Saturday’s tragedy. Gooner mates have been fine, actually. Sympathetic even, an acknowledgment of the sheer cruelty and injustice of it all. Cheer for City and you might as well cheer the scarcity of oil that’s driving us towards geopolitical meltdown, unjust wars and keeps the boot on the throat of hardworking, decent people. Cheer for bluescum and you might as well cheer the impoverishment of the Siberian peoples and continuing corruption of a major international country. Cheering the playthings, whims and... Tottenham and the missing £40M

You’re probably expecting this article to a be a lengthy breakdown about the amount of TV revenue, sponsorship, merchandise and prize money lost from being unceremoniously dumped out of our well earned Champions League place? It’s not. That breakdown can be found in great detail elsewhere. There is another way to generate that amount of money, and Levy has been trying to generate it for the last few seasons – cut the deadwood. Now before anyone says a thing, this is obviously easier said than done. There are players that we have been trying to shift for 2 or 3... Read more »

Winning The Beautiful Game at all costs

From the smouldering remains of my hopes and expectations I look at Chelsea’s success this season, and what my eyes see are the change in tactics that Chelsea employed in the latter stages of the season, probably as a direct result of their new management. Some have piped up to state that Chelsea’s tournament wins in the later stages of the season, when Chelsea have faced teams with superior attacking capability, are down to planned defensive line ups. Frequently, all eleven players could be found well behind the halfway line during tournament games where a win was required to progress.... Read more »
