We need to talk about Ledley

This is going to be painful to type. For all Spurs fans there are a number of difficult issues to confront at the end of a rollercoaster season: was fourth place an under or overachievement? Will Levy get the cheque book out? Can the club afford to allow another Modric saga to drag on throughout the summer? Some are even debating whether Harry deserves another season to push the team forward. However, for me one issue looms over all others: what to do about Ledders. On the one hand, the club captain’s dedication and heroic performances in the shirt since... Read more »

Daniel Levy and The Most Important Transfer Window Ever

You’d hope that football chairman pay little attention to the internet. I don’t envision him signing up to our forum any time soon to keep us updated on the latest transfer news and I’m pretty sure that Daniel Levy hasn’t got a Twitter account. He’s surely too busy busting the balls of other chairman and football agents to have time to tweet. Dan Levy @danlevyTHFC: Had soup for lunch. Carrot and coriander. #reem Dan Levy @danlevyTHFC: Harry wants to play golf with me at the weekend. Going to tell him I’m busy #awkward If he was to have a Twitter... Read more »

Proud to be Bayern?

So 38 games done and dusted and what are we left with? A week praying to the footballing gods that come Saturday night Spurs have their rightful place in the Champions League. Come on, we deserve it don’t we? Surely? If we’d been offered 4th back in August we would have sold our mothers to take it. Yet now, to some fans it feels like it should have been so much more. I agree, I really do – the way we were playing in the opening half of the season was a joy to behold, so anything mini capitulation that... Read more »

May the farce be with you

Amongst other things I’m a fan of Tottenham Hotspur, and Sci-Fi in general. I’m not a Sci-Fi geek, but I just like Red Dwarf and all things to do with Aliens and Spaceships (and laser beams). Okay I am a bit of a sci-fi geek, but I’m far from an expert. One Sci-Fi I’ve never really understood the appeal of is “Star Wars”. Therefore it may be particularly foolish to use it as an analogy for the plight of Spurs fans, but I’m going to do it anyway. Everyone is different in the amount they follow and support their club.... Read more »

Should he stay or should he go?

The question of who should succeed Fabio Capello as England manager has been a taboo subject for Spurs fans over the past few months. The minute Harry Redknapp was labelled favourite to step up to International Duty was the minute Tottenham’s season nosedived. Our 2011-2012 Premier League campaign had got off to a flying start. Forgetting those two abysmal opening games against the Manchester clubs, Tottenham went on to face 23 games emerging with only 2 loses. We were 3rd in the League, inches away from mounting a real Title Challenge, and you’d have been hard pressed to recall a... Read more »

Worst case scenario

Labeling Spurs’ close to the season as a disaster — which has involved pissing away a sizable third-place gap and free-falling all the way to our current position of fifth — would be a massive understatement. What a difference a few months of bad form can make. Back in January, I was filling this space with ideas on how Spurs should bolster their ranks in the summer to strengthen the squad ahead of our next Champions League campaign. Now, we’re staring headlong into another season in the perpetual wasteland that is the Europa League and facing the prospects of having... Read more »

Should I be feeling guilty?

As I sit in front of the laptop, concentrating, frantically and bravely fighting the battle between index finger and LiveJasmine pop-ups, something strange is happening in my head & heart, which, for once, has nothing to do with the questionable material on my internet browser. No, this is something else. For many years, I’ve hoped, willed and wished for nothing more than for Tottenham Hotspur to be successful. Having put up with the blinkered, glory-hunting, drivel spouted by Woolwich & later from the West London plastics, there were times over the years where I shamelessly ached to be in the... The Referee’s a Pentium Quad-core Processor…

Back in 2009, a certain blogger on a Tottenham Hotspur site suggested that Football as an industry lags behind its competitors – if you can call American Football, tennis, cricket and both the rugbys ‘competition’ – in that they all have the benefit of some form of technology to assist the officiating members with their job. The piece was probably inspired by some form of injustice that occurred in a Spurs game, though the author denies this (“Video Referees: The Time Has Come“, have a look for yourself). Once again we find ourselves in the almost post-apocalyptic meltdown that follows... Read more »
