1882: All tickets sold

The Fighting Cock is amazed and proud to announce that all tickets for the 1882 blocks have been sold. The 1882 movement is about getting like minded Tottenham supporters together to support our young players. On 13 September 2012 Tottenham’s academy side take on the might of Barcelona’s youth development programme at White Hart Lane as a part of The NextGen Series. There will be at least 600 of us singing our hearts out for our young players and the shirt they wear. There are still tickets in the other areas of the West Stand. If you can’t make it... AVB calls time on ‘project’ Spurs

Tottenham head coach André Villas-Boas today admitted his preferred style of play would never succeed at the club. In a short address in front of a packed press conference, the Portuguese said he was disappointed that his energetic, pressing mode of football was unsuited to the Premier League. In a stark message to his critics in the media and amongst the Spurs support, AVB acknowledged that the ‘project’ had already failed to prove it could produce a top four finish this season – seen as a minimum requirement after the success-laden years the club enjoyed under Harry Redknapp. During this... Of the Essence

And here we are again, another transitional season, a brand new manger, whoops; I mean head coach, 3 below par performances, media slander and a lot of booing. Thus the nature of the fickle fan is revealed. Now don’t get me wrong, I too am not happy with a lot of things at Spurs. Levy is too crafty for my simple mind to process, I didn’t agree with the team selection for the Norwich game and the less said about the transfer window shenanigans the better, but we as a whole need to chomp on a big bitter slice of... Reasons why this is a Happy Birthday Spurs!

Tottenham Hotspur celebrates 130 years as a club this week, but some may be forgiven for asking what is there to celebrate? After all Spurs have failed for the second successive season to qualify for the Champions League. We sacked our most successful manager in recent times, Harry Redknapp, hero to the Red Top papers, we sold two of our best players and are currently without a win this season. Surely the birthday bash should be cancelled? At Norwich on Saturday it sounded as if many were ready to read the Old Cockerel his last rites, but the majority of... Read more »

That Was the Transfer Window That Was

By the numbers then, Spurs signed five players of arguably proven quality and saw the return of one loanee on a permanent basis. We also saw the going of the three Croatians, Giovani dos Santos, Rafael van der Vaart, [the irreplaceable] Ledley King and six other senior players besides. Notwithstanding the nature of ‘undisclosed fees’, a conservative estimate at spending is in the region of £47 million, while fees received could top that by a further ten million pounds. Much of the post-window analysis is likely to centre upon the storm that has been whipped up on various social media... Read more »

The Great Spurs Conspiracy

Can’t quite believe it happened? Doesn’t make sense? Chances are it was the CIA, Illuminati, or Daniel Levy. “What? you’re an idiot! Daniel Levy wasn’t responsible for the JFK assassination, or faking footage of the man on the moon?” But if you have lurked on Twitter or any forums for the last few days you will have heard tales of mysteries goings on at Spurs Lodge. Phantom bids, delaying tactics, all supposedly centred around whether or not Daniel Levy is really prepared to put his hand in his pocket, or whether his ‘attempts’ to land players are purely to please... Everyone’s a critic

First game back at the lane for me on Saturday. I was on muddy Clapham Common last week, having a whale of a time watching Chase and Status. I usually go to the Spurs with my old man. We always talk through the game before, during and afterwards. I do the same with my my two mates who are season ticket holders. Meet up beforehand, throw around some expert analysis before heading into the ground. That’s half the reason we go, the banter. We like to to be armchair pundits, we like to think we know best. Saturday was a... Read more »

What we wanted -vs- What we got

Back in May, when Harry was still manager and the season was coming to a close, I made some polls on The Fighting Cock forum, based on a 4-4-2 formation as to who we wanted to keep and who we wanted to sell. After the votes were counted, our desired first XI looked a little something like this… Subs: Friedel, Rose, Caulker*, Townsend*, Huddlestone, Parker, New Forward Squad: Button, Naughton, Dawson, Gallas, King, New Winger, Livermore, New Central Midfielder, Falque *U-21 so do not count towards 25-man squad We had essentially decided that the following should go: Gomes, Cudicini, Alnwick,...
