The second half of the season is shaping up quite nicely for Spurs, after a lacklustre start that saw a big change at the top of the club.

No one would have predicted the arrival of The Special One (™) when the season kicked off in August, and now here we are; eagerly awaiting some signature Mourinho signings in the January transfer window.

It is worth taking a look ahead at the matches that Tottenham have in the back half of the season, where a few points could be the difference between Champion’s League football, the Europa League, or being sat at home watching the other big teams frolic in France, Spain and Germany.

Manchester United

With the special one comes special fixtures, and though playing Man United at home would normally be a big match on the calendar, this game looks set to give spectators a little bit extra.

Mourinho will be looking to deny one of his former clubs some points that they will be in desperate need of if the former champions are going to rescue their dire season. These will be points Spurs also need if they are going to stay in the chase for Champion’s League places, so expect a big game with plenty of action. With a bit of luck Harry Kane may be fit again, just in time to put his scoring boots on.

Arsenal F.C.

There is nothing quite like a North London derby, and this derby in April looks set to be one of the biggest we have seen in a few years.

The Gooners have struggled all season, with sporadic form and more misses than hits. It has been a delight to witness. When they strap on their shin pads at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they will be a team chasing points to try and salvage their season, and their reputation.

This will be the perfect opportunity for Spurs to capitalize on Arsenal’s hit and miss form and secure some important points for the end of the season. Leicester City

The last home game of the season is looking like a six-pointer. Leicester City are previous winners of the Premier League (saying out loud helps you remember), but they will arrive in North London chasing points themselves and trying to secure their own European qualifying spot.

It is likely both teams will kick off with a lot to play for, and both play high-tempo football and aren’t goal shy. We could also see a battle for the England number 9 shirt between Jamie Vardy and a fit again Harry Kane. This will definitely be a match to watch out for, with goals and glory on offer for both sides.

Liverpool’s dominance this season might have made it feel like there isn’t much left to play for, even with so many games left in the season. The competition for the remaining top spots is still tight though, and Tottenham still have work to do if they are going to play in Europe’s top flight next year.
