So here we go. A semi-final defeat and now all the, usually tiresome, talk of a lack of winning mentality at Spurs.

Over the last four years we, as fans, have embarked on an unexpected, long awaited, transformation into a club that is finally able to compete with the big boys. Now, we all know that this hasn’t just happened over the last four years out of nowhere. We emerged from the dark ages of the nineties and early 2000’s to a team that threatened to get back to where it belonged. We first started to see glimmers with Martin Jol’s side that finished 5th in back to back seasons. A few false dawns later and we finally saw the arrival of Pochettino who truly delivered Levy’s vision of bringing Tottenham Hotspur back to the top table. He has done it in remarkable fashion, playing entertaining football, the Tottenham way, brining fans back closer to the team, and I love him for that.

During the last four years we have indeed challenged for top honours and we have on occasions faltered when the prize has been close. On these occasions I have baulked at the suggestion we are chokers, I have rejected the notion that the club does not have a winning mentality, and I have supported the suggestion from Pochettino that this young team needs time to develop into a trophy winning side. But it has been four years now. I feel we would have more chance of winning something using a 1xbet promo code!

After the semi fInal defeat I went online looking for positives, some hope for next season, talk of fight from our manager or players. I was disappointed with what I found. I found Pochettino saying he had no regrets, that we competed well and when you play Manchester United it’s a 50-50. I found our talisman Harry Kane (who I have enormous love for as a human, superhuman, and football player) telling everyone he is not in bad form because he has scored two in the last four. As a Spurs fan I obviously adore Kane, but be honest Harry, you are playing like turd since your injury. My only hope is that what Pochettino is telling the media is the polar opposite of what he is telling the dressing room. Imagine SAF telling his teams, that had just thrown away a 1-0 lead to lose a cup semi-final 1-2, “Don’t worry lads we have done well to even get this far” For all Pochettino’s magic, and he is magic you know, could he better instill a winning mentality in this side by demanding it?

The only reaction that I was happy with was Dele’s. He said what we all want to hear, you can’t keep talking about winning and throw away a game like that.

I am grateful for how far we as a club and team have come, and the fact that we are on the verge of sealing champions league football for another season and are upset at a narrow defeat to Manchester United in a semi-final shows how far we have come. But to get the next level everyone is talking about we cannot be satisfied with that, not the fans, not the chairman, not the players and especially not our manager.
