Some of the dirtiest players in the Premier League might actively be proud of this infamy. After all, it does make them stand out even more than they would otherwise. Given the nature of the people who make a list like this, they are probably not particularly bothered by the fact that they are regarded as dirty players. They certainly make many of the other players look better by comparison, even if they won’t get talked about as often in some cases. People do frequently enjoy talking about controversial subjects and controversial people, which is certainly good for the players that have learned to embrace their bad reputations.

Pablo Zabaleta definitely has to make that list. This is a player who has earned an astonishing 261 disciplinary points, with 162 fouls conceded. Given the number of matches that have included him, he has managed to earn 2.13 disciplinary points for each and every game. While some people might feel that this will add some extra entertainment to a game, it is probably also frustrating to a lot of other witnesses.

Lucas Leiva is even worse than he is, and this should make things tough for the fans of Liverpool. His disciplinary points have totaled 273 by this point in his career. This means that Lucas Leiva has managed to earn an embarrassing 2.60 disciplinary points for every game. People might wonder how this compares to any of the honorable achievements that he has earned for each game, if any. In terms of disciplinary points, Lucas Leiva has easily outperformed plenty of his fellow Premier League members.

Of course, even someone like Lucas Leiva can be outclassed in terms of infamy, and it seems that Lee Cattermole may have accomplished that at this point in his career. His career disciplinary points have totaled 302, which might seem unreal. He’s also gotten two red cards. Since he has played 109 games, the number of disciplinary points per match that he has earned have totaled 2.77. This is close enough to three disciplinary points per game that it easily exceeds what a lot of other players have earned or lost, depending on how people view the situation.

Cheick Tioté has still managed to beat all of them, however. He has earned 341 disciplinary points overall after having only played 105 games. This equates to 3.24 disciplinary points for each match that he has played. It’s always easy to predict what a match with him will be like, given these numbers.

It is interesting to note that the infamy of these players can, to a large extent, be measured. People just need to look at their statistics in order to get a sense of how truly unpleasant their careers have been. With a lot of other forms of entertainment, people have to be more subjective when they try to determine the most infamous participants. With the Premier League, this is no longer an issue. People can just dryly report the numbers, and the numbers manage to tell a very comprehensive story of the behavior of a given athlete.
