Tottenham overcame their so called Wembley “Voodoo” as they brushed off Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund to record their first home win of the season.

The Spurs now remain in 2nd spot for the last 16. Odds on this are 11/4 , if you’re into dissecting the season alongside the bookies this review might help. As you can see, even after having been dealt a tough draw, the team is faring really well.

Harry Kane continued his typical September goal scoring antics with a goal in each half, a huge contribution to the promising start to their Champions League campaign . Tottenham opened up the scoring in the 3rd minute as Kane sent Son through and with his blistering pace, and a step-over to sell Sokratis, fired it home on his left foot from a tight angle beating Roman Burki at his near post.

Dortmund fired back within 7 minutes when a one-two between Yarmalenko and Kagawa resulted in the Ukrainian firing home from outside the box into the top left corner with a delightful first time finish to level it up.

Not long after, Vertonghen picked out Kane who scored a very similar goal to Tottenham’s first as he fired home his first from a tight angle past Burki, and again the Swiss stopper was beaten at his near post.

Dortmund continued to press Tottenham in the second half and did a good job of keeping possession of the ball but proved wasteful with chances, and with 2 goals disallowed, Dortmund found it difficult to penetrate the Tottenham back three as they continue to impress after being unchanged from the excellent display on the weekend away to Everton, with new signing Davinson Sanchez particularly impressive.

Not long after a controversial disallowed goal, neat passing play from Spurs on the edge of the Dortmund box between Davies and Eriksen created room for Kane in the left hand side of the box who lashed home a tidy left footed finish into the far bottom corner and created breathing room for the home side for the first time in the match.

Late on, Lloris pulled off a wonderful save to deny Aubameyang after a flick on from a corner. But Tottenham’s day wasn’t entirely flawless as Jan Vertonghen was sent off for a second bookable offence as a trailing arm struck Dortmund substitute Mario Gotze in the face in what was a controversial decision.

But that didn’t ruin the atmosphere at Wembley Stadium as the Tottenham fans blew a collective sigh of relief as they finally saw their team get 3 points in their temporary home. Harry Kane once again showed that he is an elite striker, and is now showing that on the biggest stage of club football.

Tottenham next play Swansea at home on Saturday.

I love how every Spurs players claim that Moussa Dembele is the most talented player on the squad but he barely ever gets a mention from fans.
