Great podcast guys, but I just had to take exception to your criticism of Mason which was as unfair as it was wrong. You said he made an awful back pass & took the wrong option, but he did neither. You have to take into consideration that he slipped, as did many players (a couple even injuring themselves) in that game, and as soon as he slips the ONLY thing he can really do is try to shift it back to another player to clear. And, considering he slips, his back-pass was a decent pass, Pelle had no right whatsoever to get there 1st. Lloris could & probably should have come off his line, but probably had his injury in the back of his mind which was brought about by a very similar situation & was also concerned about the back-pass ruling. However, in deciding NOT to come off his line, he needed to make it clear to Davies & Davies should simply put his foot through the ball & clear it himself. Neither of those mistakes had anything to do with Mason. Mason played a pass back, whilst slipping, which TWO Spurs players should’ve been favourites for, & yet a persistent Southampton player gets his toe on the end 1st. Once again, it’s hesitancy & a lack of communication which was the problem, but Mason didn’t hesitate, he did exactly the right thing once he lost his footing.

Just had to get that off my chest
