Soo true, I said this 2 seasons ago, football has evolved and players like Owen, Defoe and even Javier Hernandez (cant get in ahead of Welbeck and notice RVP interest from United) are no longer prioritised in modern day tactics.
Simply tapping goals in every game isnt enough, the 3 I mentioned cant hold it up, pass, dominate aerially or just generally occupy opponents for long enough periods in the game, you might as well not have them on the pitch.
Youth coaches would turn these guys into wingers as they are pacy and quick footed but they dont have the technique to play central midfield or the presence to play CF….

What nonsense Defoe scored the winner a few weeks ago scored 11 goals in the prem and most of them where winners . The problem is a lot bigger than Defoes 5ft7 and even if we have ADY at the front it wont stop the extra work rat being swallowed before and at half time the very thing i believe is causing players too collapse. The problem is when you get in the box you have at least 8 defenders waiting no matter how fast you break. We conceded two goals because Friedegg left the door wide open for both goals if you stopped the game and looked where he was past his 6yard line for both goals. If Abv keeps a high line then more long shots will whistle over Friedels head.t Playing Defoe has a loan striker wont work unless you take your chances and we created enough but the keeper was saving them and there defenders tugged and fowled there way through the game until the worse one seen red in a friendly. Last season Defoe and ADY scored one a piece and looked good little and large then Harry picked the returning Van . So if extra work rate is still aloud to flourish in Football then Defoe will be no good unless our team join in and join the Barca game based on extra tackling and passing and Messi 5ft7 skills to finish of the 600 odd passes Defoe has bean overtaken by D.D. energy drinks and drugs and this is why Chelsea ten men held the best passers in the World and won the chumps league. How do i no this well all these teams have players who i no took extra tempo drugs Barca Madrid Chelsea all played for a team who where famous for comebacks and late late goals something i regret learning because i hate it when i see teams using this form of cheating and in the prem its growing by the season has Newcastle Norwich Swansea Wigan and others proved you don’t need to spend big just make sure your work rate stays the same for 90 plus mins and you can win or shock your more costly opponents.
