As you all know, the Mighty Meat Men of the Botswana Meat Commission are our adopted second team, we love them almost as much as we do Spurs, almost.

Since we have adopted them they are not only unbeaten, but they have won every single game and have climbed to 2nd in the Botswana Premier League table. Some say this is down to their superb manager, Mr. Daniel Chico Dance Nare, but I would like to think we have played a big part in their success.

Knowing that a group of men (and women) who live over 8000 miles away, are following your every move must be truly astounding and blow their minds. They live so far away that, according to Google Maps, it would take 8 days and 19 hours to drive from Tottenham to Lobatse. I don’t know if this includes some kind of ferry crossing or whether I would need a pedalo, but it is a journey that one day I plan to undertake.

BMC FC have provided us with much entertainment, and now I think we should give something back.

As you know, Sibs has been in touch via Facebook with one of the BMC FC players, Motsholetsi Sikele, and also a member of the BMC board – who has been updating us with the game results and other info.

The plan is that we send these guys a Spurs shirt, with their names on the back. This will cost around £130 (inc p&p).

I’m sure between us we can raise this and more. Any more money that is raised will go towards getting a third shirt for the main man himself… Mr Nare.

If there is much more we will try and have some ‘The Fighting Cock’ T-Shirts made and will send enough for the entire team to wear.

Think of it as like the Blue Peter appeal, except… better, just loads better.

Anyone who wishes to do a bring and buy sale can do.

Remember the shirt is for life, not just for Christmas

We will post the names of those who have contributed here (or their forum name if they prefer, or not at all – let us know)

Update: 25/11/11 15:50 – We hit our original target of £130 in less than 24 hours! We’ve pushed it up to £200 so we can afford a shirt for the man himself, Mr Chico Dance Nare. Thanks for the support!

Proof that we are buying the shirts!

Update: 29/11/11 15:53 – Target reached! Many thanks to all those who donated. Sibs will be posting the shirts out to Botswana shortly. Hopefully we’ll get some pics of Chico and the boys in their new gear! LOVE THE SHIRT.
