The following is an email exchange IAmJustAli had with the Club.

Dear Mr Levy,

Firstly I would like to congratulate you on the progression the club has made under your stewardship. We have made huge strides, from being a club that I used to get unbelievable stick for supporting in the 1990s, to being able to hand it out to others over the last few years. The Champions League run was a huge achievement, and there is no shame in missing out to Man City’s endless pot of gold this season. I am not lucky enough to possess a season ticket, but I get to a few games a season and was at the Werder Bremen home game this season and felt incredibly proud to watch us dominate a top European side in the most prestigious club competition in the world.

Which leads me to my main point. It is clear that we are a much stronger side with Ledley King, the most gifted English centre back of his generation, in the team. Sadly due to his recurrent knee problems he is rarely available. He is far too talented to have to retire at such a young age due to injury, therefore I would like to make a slightly unusual offer:

He can have my knee cartilage.

I’m 21 years old, in good shape, and certainly don’t need it as much as he does. Just leave me enough to be able to walk and it’s all good, I am never going to be a professional athlete. I’m not a medical man but I’m sure the club must know a specialist who could make it happen. Feel free to contact me on [phone number removed] or via email and we can make arrangements. I’ve got university exams for the next few weeks but I’m sure we could pencil in some risky experimental surgery for the close-season.

Regards,

Ali Campbell

The Clubs response…

Dear Mr Campbell

Thank you for your email to the Chairman which he has read and passed to me to respond.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us with your thoughts and though we do appreciate your very kind and unusual offer, it is one I am afraid we cannot take up!

Best regards

A personal reply would have been nice (Who does Levy think he is, the Queen?), but Spurs being Spurs, I guess he was lucky to receive a reply at all.
