Regarding atmosphere- I notice when the pub in NYC gets quiet it's maddening. That's when I start shoving people (admittedly with a smile so they know a hammer fist isn't coming next). I don't care if I get a punch back (I was in the Marines 8 years- I'll be fine)- at least there's a buzz then. Usually after the shoves start people start belting out songs (last week a mosh pit broke out in the first half). Now- I understand you cant shove the old lady next to you saying shhhh- but when that cunt next to you is too nervous to sing (and they normally do) shove him and get things bubbling. My 2p- and please note it wont help some of the overall issues.
