Back in 2007 we paid Southampton £5m outright rising to £10m for a British 17 year old ( a fuck of a lot of money then ) This is what we should be doing scouting the best British talent, Sack Baldini for starters and appoint more local scouts ( UK ).

Rumors had it we were in for Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles from Forrest. Newcastle got them both for around £5mil (paper quoted cost).

That is nothing for two English prospects.

It's dawned on me that all the players we bought in the summer are not actually 'first-teamers'. Granted we needed to give Lamela et al a 'proper season' but we could and should have bought at least one definite upgrade.

Apparently we are in advanced negotiations with Kramer (Borussia Monchengladbach) according to the German media. He started in the world cup final and has been absolutely dominating teams like Bayern Munich. He would be exactly what we need next to Mason, a young technically gifted fighter that can protect the defence and hopefully be an exemplary player that moves the team forward. I don't think we will eventually sign him but we need to start scouting more players like this.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will begin a major restructuring of the club's scouting and recruitment procedures after their poor start to the Barclays Premier League season.

As usual a mixed bag from Tim, but he talks some sense. Like this:

"I know one of the key figures in recruitment at Southampton and the way they work is effective but simple. They ask the manager to identify the kind of player he wants and then offer him a range of options they believe fit the bill. For example, if you are after a quick, dynamic striker, there is no point being offered a big, slow target man simply because he happens to be available."

Damien Comoli on TalkSport saying Spurs scouting network is the butt of jokes in the football scouting community, as they don't have a network. He also says that has one of the smallest team of backroom staff across Europe. There appears to be no structure.
