I did say UA had a terrible 2016 with their sports endorsements, due to their players/teams all having spectacular failures.

Curry maybe the player of the moment, however he has one kick, Nike have a raft of other kicks KD's, LeBrons, Kobes, AF1s, Airmaxs and I've not even mentioned Jordans. If you cannot see that losing game 7 in the final minute isn't spectacular failure, having gone 73-9 a record in the regular season, leading the finals series 3-1. No team until GSW had ever lost a series having led 3-1 or been record breakers getting there. It's got to rank as one of the biggest bottle jobs.

Since switching to UA Andy 'specialist in failure' Murray hasn't won a grand slam, that was whilst he was still kitted out by adidas.

UA maybe growing, however their market share is still dwarfed by the big players. How many more sides do Nike, Adidas and Puma provide kit to compared to UA? As their only PL side they should be bending over backwards to produce something better than some 'phoned in' nonsense. The big boys are allowed to get away with it due to having years of building their brands.

I've liked some of our previous UA stuff, but looking forward to us getting an elite brand signed up to us.

I'd argue that UA is already an elite brand. They're bigger here than every other company except Nike. As for Curry: losing a title means very little when it comes to shoe sales. Durant has never won one, and his shoes makes Nike more than $100 million per year. Lebron entered the league in 2003 and didn't win until 2012, but he was still Nike's top athlete (maybe 2nd behind Kobe) for most of that time. UA has already released several different shoes for Curry, and up until those laughably bad "dad shoes" they were doing quite well.

They're also significantly wealthier than Puma, they're just choosing to focus on US sports at the moment so they have a small market share elsewhere. It's very similar to where Nike was in the late 80s and early 90s, before they signed deals with the Brazilian NT and all those top players. I'd prefer to have Nike or Adidas make the kits for Spurs just because I think they look better, but UA could definitely put up the money if they wanted to.

I work in a white collar gig and a lot of people here wear an Under Armour golf polo that's absolutely hideous- I can't stand it (that or vineyard vines-barf).UA is a totally diluted brand. They might sell a lot, but noone actually thinks their stuff is good or desirable. Not in the same way Nike is. Or even some of Adidas' stuff. UA is a gym brand. It's not a fashion brand the way those other two are.

So you work in a place where a lot of people wear their product, and admit that they sell a lot ($4 billion+ in revenue), but they aren't a fashion brand?

They're larger than anyone but Nike and Adidas, who obviously outpace UA by a considerable margin. But they've been growing their market since the 80s, whereas UA made little more than heat/cold compression gear as recently as 10 years ago.

I've always been an Adidas/Puma guy myself. But to write UA off as a gym brand is a bit harsh. They used to be niche, but they're rapidly expanding and reinvesting more of their revenue than anyone else in the market.

Happy to trade them in for Nike, though. As long as Nike gives us something nice and not the catalogue kit they've forced on everyone this year.

we aint big enough to get a bespoke Nike kit. they have england and france in their standard template. if we get anything but the standard template from Nike, I'll be shocked

That was my concern pages back when the Nike deal was being discussed, apparently no one in the world is big enough for Nike anymore. If Barca can't get something unique, who can? Every single squad they supply for 16/17 is wearing the exact same template.

They've been raked over the coals for doing it, however, and between the Euros, Copa America, Olympics, and the season starting in August I think the criticism will just continue and build. This time next year I'd be surprised if they tried the "one design fits all" strategy to kit supply. That said, they are Nike...I don't ever put anything past them.

Too late to ring Adidas up? Nothings been announced...

A is out selling Nike in a lot of categories, and the reason why is that their stuff is vastly better than Nike or Adidas. Their heatgear and coldgear stuff really works, their golf stuff is miles beyond Nike or Adidas and shows a brand growing at an enormous rate. Apparently in the US, despite the slump of Spieth, UA has th market "locked down" and judging from the numbers I see in their gear, it's not going to be long before the UK is the exact same.

Nike has a huge lead in the market share, but UA is growing massively, And with guys like Anthony Joshua and Tom Brady as well as Dwayne Johnston endorsing their stuff, it's going to keep getting bigger.

More importantly, they have the MVP (POTY) for the 3 big North American sports: Curry (basketball), Newton (NFL), and Harper (baseball). I don't know if it's just dumb luck or if they have some genius handling their endorsements, but that's pretty impressive.

They've been fairly ingenius. When Curry was still with Nike they signed Bazemore to a pretty big deal for a guy who was basically sitting on Golden State's bench taking up space and started sending him truckloads of gear - to the point that he was just giving it away to everyone on the team. They were basically paying him to sell UA to Curry for an entire season while he was still on Nike's payroll. Then Nike, being the arrogant prices they are, basically just showed up to pitch their new deal to Curry and said "we're Nike." Not sure if their other deals have been as shrewdly planned, or if it's just a case of the brand having high energy and the fact they're throwing a lot of cash at endorsements, but they're going places. The company has incredible drive.

Guys, Under Armour is quality. I haven't been happy with their recent kits for us either, but so many of you guys keep acting like it's some no-mark brand, which is laughably ignorant.

Does anyone remember Puma? They had a very high rate of returns, ripped, fallen apart etc items. Their quality is low. It's even know within the industry that UA is the actual best for quality. Maybe not everyones cup of tea look wise, but that's impossible to achieve. How can everyone universally like the same item. But the materials and the ways it's made is different. People want value for money. For example a UA polo 99.9% of the time will last longer than a adidas polo, a nike polo, etc. It amazes me when people want brand name over quality and moan about durability.
Working on this side of things, we've seen the technologies that produce many of the brands. UA is the highest quality of all of them. It's a big reason behind it's growth.
Adidas is very good, Nike is probably just behind them. But UA is at the top. I understand that designs is a different area. Not all appeal to everyone. I mean from a personal point of view, Adidas can be dull with kits. They usually put the trade mark three stripes on everything single shirts sleeves (until this season of course) and with a lot of kits and training wear, they will use just one colour. So if a badge had maybe black lions, a yellow section etc. You'll just get in the secondary colour only that's reserve of the shirt colour. Nike are better, but they definitely come from a brand name point of view more than anything. It's Nike!? Must be amazing. Not always. UA, have great stuff and bad stuff look wise but they put a lot of effort into things. Things that I've seen them put in Tottenham Hotspur stuff that has a back story and reason, related to the history of the club. But interpreted in their own way. Ideas are also not always one sided, the club has an input.
Imagine if Tottenham go back to Adidas. Here's the designs we have for your new kit... here's the away. We've done a navy one, a black one, a blue one, a green one. Pick and we will stick your badge on it. Where's the personal touch in that? Nike can be a little template happy too. England away looks pretty much like Portugal home. UA try to accommodate where they can, sometimes they may have similar collars but little else.
People complain about the prices too, fair enough. But if you're paying top dollar maybe it's nice to be paying it for good material.
