Think there must be an overall total in the background and they take off whatever you haven't "earned" in the last 5 years. I lost 300 or so but remain in the 400's, so only actually lost around 100.

Lost a couple on 310 now, I'm not overly fussed as I'm at an awkward stage where I'll get tickets for EL aways but I'll probably just fall short of games like Palace, Watford, Norwich and Southampton, having absolutely no chance of getting a ticket on my own account for Bournemouth or Woolwich away.
