Unless he has a stormer of a preseason, perhaps going out on loan (at least until January) would be wise?

This season there won't be any Europa League minutes for him to soak up, and unless we get a favourable draw in the Capital One Cup (which many would be forgiven for not wanting to prioritise at all) surely he won't get much of a chance to develop by coming out in the last couple of minutes in a few league games.

He'll be a league 2 player within 5 years
I've not seen him play enough to have formed a solid opinion of his future prospects. I have read that he's highly thought of with us and at national level as he's represented England at every age group.
Have you seen him play much or is it a hunch you have as you seem certain on this.

He hasn't watched him play a single youth game. He is commenting solely on his appearances in the first team. Don't bother with him. He's a troll.

Didn't do alot tonight, played behind the striker and looked kind of not bothered by everything, not tracking back, but was the only one pressing at times.

Isn't he supposed to be a centre mid not attacking?

All our youth players plan in a 4-3-3 formation, allowing them to gain skills and experience before eventually picking a position to specialise in. This helps a lot of players to find their skill set within a fluid system where you're not rigidly put into a set position.

He plays in a midfield 3. You could argue that's a CM or an AM, depending on the game or situation. I think his future is as a CM for sure, personally.

Moving this out of the Bentaleb thread...

His first action was to take on and beat Milner, then win a corner. Must have been inside first min of coming on. His next was to receive the ball on half way line, with his back to goal with 4 oppo players around him, he turned took two out of the game, then ran between the other two (can't remember what he did in next action, but I know he didn't lose possession). Thrid action was again to take the ball with oppo around him, think he tried to take on someone and it didn't come off. Fourth was to press high. Fith the final whistle blew.

Someone's made a highlights reel, would you believe? The bit around 53 seconds in is what I thought was a good sign for a young lad with little experience..

When I watch this back it's like watching sharks smelling blood in the water. Liverpool POUNCED on Onomah. I still maintain that a season long loan to a Premiership side would do this boy a load of good (if he got regular starting time).

Yeah probably would - he's played 2 games out of 3 so far, so it's difficult to know what Poch has in mind. They might want to keep him close, so they can train him as well as play him.

Loans can be good, but players can come back compromised, so it's a tough one.

I don't think he was as bad as people are making him out to be.

At least he was direct and opted to take on players. The offsides was poor but he need the experience.

I haven't read the other thread, but people are making him out to be bad?

He's only 19 FFS and widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best, talents of his age in the country. Not to mention that he's been played out of position in his appearances with us to help his development in other areas of his game.

A bit of patience wouldn't go astray I think.

Nor would a loan. He seems to mostly lack the mental bit when he plays; the confidence to make a difference, the experience to make the right decisions, and just getting used to the tempo in PL. He won't get those from the odd 10 min cameos, I'm afraid.

Well done to Josh in his above average performance against Gillingham.

I'm a strict critic of his. I think he lacks the vital attributes of a top flight player and is therefore a drain on our resources. But he did ok last night

Hmmm, onomah a 19 year old youth product

Keep sticking the knife into the poor cunt. Young new signing doesn't get a fair crack of the whip even when we need him. Great supporter you.

I think he has shown good signs of quality and I'll support him as he settles in.

Jansenn a 22 year old Dutch international who has played over 100 games

I thought that was Onomah's best match for us by some distance It seems his best role is behind the striker, the issue is the number of players we have who can play there. I really think a loan is necessary to see how he progresses and plays week in week out. That being said, well done showed some good end product last night.
