Who the fuck are you? The fucking time fairy? Fuck off back to your 9-5, you boring cunt -
Ah, the time fairy... the less successful and insanely bitter older brother of "Tooth & Christmas!"

...Actually, I'm not one to talk... i've not slept a full night for 18 months now...
:dier::pritchardeyes:
and as for a boring 9-5... never had one!! (I don't mean a Job, just not a 9-5 one!)
You know I'm only joshing with you Joseph... I likes ya... you're my kinda stand-up guy!

I was merely speculating whether these online arguments you'd got yourself embroiled in were ACTUALLY happening in the early hours, or whether foreign time zones were a factor.
Lossa love, and lossa sleep!
The TIIIIIIIME FAIRY!!!!!!
No fucking way. It's hard to relax when you have holier than thou twats like 1882 1882 on your case. Fucking voyeur. He loves it.
:eriksenlol::levylol:

and stop quoting my posts. Do you understand?
Ah, shit, sorry about that... won't happen again!
:pochbye:

I think the shit given to John Thomas John Thomas is ridiculous. He hates Levy, not Tottenham. He's way offline with the stadium, but the way some of you go on about him is just childish. There are loads of gooners on here, but he's not one of them. John is only guilty of watching too many X-Files.

You little Tinker..

How is the treatment he gets childish but the treatment given to Gibbs or our dear American friends not?.And more important, what are you doing up at 03-49? You need more beauty sleep than most..

I'm gonna have to agree with Joe here sadly. I'm by no means John's biggest fan, I'm sure he will confirm that for you. But to constantly berate him and call him an Woolwich fan when he clearly is a spurs fan is childish. He's offered to meet up with people for a pint pre game just so everyone knows where his allegiances lay and once more he's came in for more berating. It's pretty fucking pathetic, and this is coming from his nemesis.

Well. His other Nemesis. :levywhoa:

Stop changing the topic - tactical innovators - lol. We are not one of the bigest clubs, never have been

As for the FA Cup being the be all of our success - no one has suggested that. But to diminish it as a nothing tournament in lieu of some commercialist competition we will never win - goes to show how little you actually value and understand history. I guess Ben Davies is a clueless mug as well for wanting to win it over 4th place. You're laughable and exactly the level of new age glory-hunting cunt-fan one little
stint at CL football has brought us

A little nervous of joining in here as you seem agressive, but:
I once read or heard quite a few years back that we had the 2nd highest average attendance all time after United before the all seater era. If true, you could easily argue we`re a sleeping giant. (Toss in the dozen or so major trophies we`ve won)
That said, I couldn`t care less if other clubs see us as "giants" or not. On the all time premier league table we`re one of 7 clubs to play all seasons. (Soon there is only 6 left) As long as we are financially well run and consistently perform better than our revenue would project (and we have been for most of the last decade or so), I`m fairly content.
I also enjoy the fact that Liverpool has never won the premier league. One can hope that the new stadium eventually elevates us to title contenders, but realisticly we`ll continue being the 4-6th best club in England.
While waiting for that magic season that probably is never gonna happen in the league, I`d settle for winning the Europa League. I feel we are due. If Sevilla can consistently win it, then we should be able to as well. Plus it would be a payback for all those lost points (and possibly CL spots lost) playing sunday after comfy trips to Kazhakstan and Georgia.

If he turns out to be a Gooner fan then he will have to drink Fosters!

I really don't mean to nitpick what was an otherwise sound post, but I just don't understand what this means. I certainly agree with you that we shouldn't get relegated to win the FA Cup (getting relegated is such a fucking ridiculous premise, I don't know why anyone raised it). But how would winning a cup stagnate us? It is completely counterintuitive. Winning breeds winning.

But more importantly, why compete if not to win?
I don't mean to nitpick, but I can't find the post where I said exactly that. The quote seems somewhat altered.

My point in my original post was that the idea that winning the FA Cup was a goal which should be aspired to above and beyond other competitions we are in, because in the past it was a very prestigious tournament, is something I disagree with. In the days when competitions were all relatively the same in how lucrative they were, and there was no real difference in terms of prestige between them, that would be a valid approach.

However, in the contemporary era, that is not the case. As a club, there are considerably greater rewards for some competitions (the League and the Champion's League in particular), both in terms of financial compensation, and in terms of prestige (the quality of the competition). As such, the FA Cup is simply no longer as prestigious, or as rewarding, as it used to be. It is emphatically behind the League, and both European competitions, in terms of financial reward for winning it, and in terms of the quality of the teams one must beat to win it.

It's not what it was. That's not our fault, but the FA's fault for being unable to protect and nuture their showcase event.

It was post #455. I did not alter what you wrote. I was just trying to understand one small part of a very long post. I understood the rest of what you wrote and, in fact, agreed with it. That one small portion that I quoted was very strange to me and I was just trying to clarify what you meant.

No, they are currently doing precisely both of those things. There's a difference between being competitive in Europe versus competing in Europe.
They also had been competing in Europe and in the top 4 for how many years before they won a trophy?
They used to see the FA cup as a hindrance and admitted it was not a priority for them. Not as much a priority as finishing 4th. CL qualification was more of a priority as they had to pay for the new stadium.
However, that soon changed when everyone was disgruntled with 8yrs of no silverware for those 20k odd fans who tagged along and the Emirates was built for.
Arsne could possibly have been at risk of losing his job after having the restraints lifted & spending £42m on Ozil and all the hype it brought of success.
It all depends on what your priorities are.
For LCFC they would rather risk a cup and try to achieve top four.
For Woolwich it was also the same.
There is also an element of luck involved.
For a club an FA cup win and relegation from the PL cannot be seen as success. It is great for the fans and the honours list, but not if you want to be successful.
Ask Wigan if they would swap that FA cup win for PL football.
In the 2 season after they won it they have gone for PL to League one and their average attendance dropped from 20k to 11k.
They had 22k when they last played us at home in 12/13. Their highest home attendance was 23k that year.
This year has been 10k.
