Have always stood up for Lennon but something is seriously wrong with the guy this year. Could it be the case that those little hamstring and calf injuries have added up and he's lost that blistering pace and confidence to beat a man? He was never world class but he was one of the few players that would get you on your feet when he had the ball. These days he looks completely lost and he's one of the only guys actually playing his preferred position out there right now

Lennon never really had much skill or a football brain but he had such a turn of pace and given his low centre of gravity it was hard for anyone to deal with him. Unfortunatly for the likes of him and Michael Owen for example, players that rely on pace lose it as they age, without their speed the rest of their flaws become evident. Look at Gerrard not as quick as he used to be but his all round game is amazing so he can loose a few yards and not worry, Lennon cannot.

I am in two minds about Lennon, he is not good enough for our first 11 anymore or even our squad on current form. However he has been a great servant for the club and its hard not to like him. My head says sell him to Man United (who are apparently interested) fo £10-£15 million if Levy can beat it out of them, my heart wants him to stay.

If he's content as a second choice RW, then great ... keep him.
But if anyway his (frequently wasteful) game-time does hamper the development/involvement of Lamela/Townsend ... servant or no servant, cash him out.

Idk it's a bit sad, I used to really like him a year or two ago ... But now I'm just simply fed up with him.

Yeah little man just doesnt have it in him anymore, he'll do well at Stoke or some shit team

As a player, he's stood still for years now. You have to wonder whether this summer might be a good time to sell.

But he is still only 26. Could he be rejuvenated under a new manager? I'd say keep him for one more year at least.
Besides, if there's one player who'd rip us a new one and play like a superstar if we sold him, I think it'd be this little fella!

You have to ask does he play for the shirt or for himself at the moment. Fading in and out during a game is not doing him any favors. For sale?

I think he needs to move. on. Not even second string. I don't think he is the type of player we need to influence the younger players. He is pretty much the last of the party culture that remains.

We need intelligence desperately at this club, and steel sharpens steel in training and on the pitch. The fact that both AVB and Sherwood made him captain still amazes me.

Even second string, he will not be able to spot what the eriksens of the team are cooking, and it only leads to frustration, predictable buildup and soft flanks. Plus having the shortest player in the prem is not going to help us with a huge problem we have of scoring from corners etc.

I noticed last night that he just doesn't want to take a man on, preferring to just lay the ball off to someone else instead, the only time he made it to the by-line was when he got the ball put into the space for him.

He also got into really good positions and fluffed his lines every time. He is not going to get that many chances to pick the lock in other games.

It's a sad day when an Aaron Lennon thread is hijacked by Cuban communo-socialist left-wing revolutionary anti-imperialist anti-capitalistic prime minister presidential dictators.

Does the fact that Azza likes the odd Cuban lahdeedah mean we're still on topic though?

............But he is still only 26. Could he be rejuvenated under a new manager? I'd say keep him for one more year at least........

That's the sad part!

In the dawn of almost every managerial change (or something similar) Lennon ups his performance big time. Then all of the sudden we (fans) start to think: Could this finally be Lennon's season???

But NO. Lennon is always flattering to deceive.
It's a shame. He lets his great speed go to waste so often (especially when we need him to attack).

To me, it almost seems like Lennon has turned into a defensive winger with an added bonus of some speed. Which is why I personally wouldn't be too opposed against keeping him next year, If he is fine as a backup.

-We could still use him in games where we would rather have a defensive alternative on the wings,
-We could use him towards the end of games (to further run down the opposing fullback),
-And he should also still provide something in the leadership department.

I'd question whether this is the impact of how he's been coached recently and whether he's not playing to his strengths anymore. Thinking back to the pod with Mickey Hazard when Flav asked him about Bostock. Mickey said that the problem with Bostock was he tried to be the sort of player he wasn't suppose to be.

Last night watching Aaron was so frustrating. We had so much space on the wing for him to run into, instead he was doing a Bale and was in the middle of the edge of the box. He can't run at people from there...

There was a time when Lennon would start a game and after two or three runs at the fullback he'd get fouled and the fullback would get booked. For the rest of the game Aaron would own that wing.

He just seems out of position and maybe feels he doesn't have the speed or beating of his man anymore.

Would love to see him back to doing what he does best...

Lads,I'm planning on getting stripe eyebrows and stripe haircut like Lennon has/had. Thoughts?

If you take away Lennons pace. What have you got?...........A bus driver!
He has been so ineffective in recent years that he has become a liability as he contributes so little.
What I don't understand (and with Townsend) is why they allow him to run inwards . As you said he
has nothing without pace and really he should be hugging the line, like a trad winger, at least his
threat of speed would keep the full back out wide leaving space for the midfield. You wonder
what managers are payed for as the whole world can see it. His impotency is legendary. Time to move on.
I think your being rather generous , a bus driver if he hadn't have made it as a footballer, is
very flattering for one blessed with micro intelligence.
