Werner and Berahino are soooooo overrated. We have to do much better.
They have never delivered any numbers to deserve being regarded as top offensive players.

There was a huge list of stats (goals, assists and key passes) based on all the offensive players we have been linked with in the Stats thread.

Werner and Berahino were bottom.

Neither of those players are playing under Poch. Before he took over Lamela was nowhere near what he is now, neither was Dembele, Chadli or Rose.

Pochettino is one of the best man managers I've seen. He brings out the best in what he's got. If Poch sees something in a player, then I trust his judgement 100%.

I read through a few sites and pages at who we are 'really linked too' if you believe that.

Apparently for midfield we are very serious about Wanyama, Witsel and Kouyate.

Attacking mid.. Werner, Volland, Schurrle, Brandt and Sane. Apparently we love the Germans!

Forwards is as you'd expect.. Batsuyashi, Embolo, Dembele, Berahino and Lacazette.

To be fair, I'd take any of that list. All very good players who can add something. But if I had to choose then it'd be Witsel, Sane and Embolo.

Take Volland off your list mate, he's gone to Bayer Leverkusen.

Going to be interesting seeing our targets potentially go elsewhere.

We need to get our key signings done early so they get incorporated within the infamous Pochettino double sessions training regime.

It's very quiet on the Batshuayi front, isn't he currently with the Belgium squad? Did Marseille win French Cup?

Batsuyashi will be leaving Marseille, their president has confirmed that. They lost the final which seems to be his last game. We've never been a club that's loud about our business, other than the Berahino saga.

A lot of people on here seem to think we are unable to attract players.. We aren't the Tottenham of a few years back when we had not a lot to offer. We are in the Champions League, we have an amazing stadium, one of the best man managers and some of the best up and coming players in the world.

A lot of deals will be done already, with some players knowing they are going here or there, but not announced until after they exit the Euros etc. The WC and Euros always delay deals being done/announced. Every club wants to get their deals done early but it isn't usually as simple as that...Even when there isn't a tournament in the summer, the agents/players often want to sit on a deal and see if a bigger club comes in. We are pretty high up the list at the moment which is obviously fantastic, but if there is a chance that Bayern want you over Spurs then you're going to delay a bit. The other factor is that when you are bidding for talented players, the selling club usually wants a replacement player in first before they sell to you. That obviously slows everything down.

We've finally got that guaranteed 'Champions League' football that players seem to look for when joining clubs. It'll go a long way in getting players to seriously look at us as an option ahead of the likes of The Chavs, Utd and Dippers. We've always seemed to sign players on a promise that we could make the Champions League.

My only concern is when Levy and co start haggling for players. We need to be decisive and get the players in. I am sure we have budget, but it'll be nowhere near the likes of teams around us, whilst we fund the stadium build.

It might sound silly to some, but the Brexit is probably playing a big part in some of the moves as well. Leaving Europe could/will have a massive effect on football.

Joe Clash Joe Clash Lyall is officially back with a bang! Transfer season is truly upon us.

Shredding those transfer rumours more ferociously than a guitar:

Might be a good thing. If everything is essentially agreed, then perhaps it makes it easier to keep a lid on it before it's announced.

We clearly did a lot of leg work getting Son last summer with hardly any media outlets catching on.

Not silly at all. If we do vote to leave the EU then that makes work permits necessary for European players doesn't it?
Well, maybe not the superstars, but priority will have to be given to other European migrant workers who play their trade in essential services. If we do decide to leave, their will be quotas, limits and footballers will not be priority.
It would be a disaster for the PL, as they would not be able to attract enough 'stars' and would lose ground in international sponsorship and broadcasting rights to other European top leagues. Scudamore would be pulling his fucking hair out.
It would also affect the top European coaches available I suppose.
The FA may not be too concerned though.

Edit: Just been reading the arguments made by the leave campaign and they have a different spin on it.
They say they would be free to set their own rules on migration, visas and permits.
they say that at the moment we are prevented opportunities from nurturing domestic and bringing other talent form across the world.
This hurts clubs abilities to bring players from outside the EU while preventing any limits from being imposed within the EU because of the 1995 Bosman ruling by the European court of Justice.
They say it will be better if the UK and the FA decide who plays in the PL from abroad rather than unelected EU judges.

On the note of work permits, leaving the EU would mean all EU players needing work permits, saying that they are unlikely to get them unless they are superstars is highly unlikely though, because even pretty average players (like you or I, not average PL players) earn at least 1K a week in League 1. They will be paying more in tax and will likely be granted a work permit based on the amount of tax we would likely be charging them.

Where it would become an issue is if we were to start limiting who comes in, meaning it may be harder for them to move their families across with them. Which would obviously make Spain, France, Germany and Italy much more appealing prospects for these players.

Does not seem to stop the top non EU players coming over to the Premiership. Unlikely to affect the players the top teams sign but may hinder some of the lesser teams signing less well known players. With our strong English connection could help us. Would take time for new rules to be put in place and unlikely to happen this season in any case.

Well, then imagine what all of the players on that list, who have already proven more than Saido and Werner, can amount to.

So less players from the EU if we leave, but legislation about how we can get new set quota of players from say Africa and South America then? Can see the leave campaigners being happy about migration from these countries

Quickly off topic, so all those EU migrants that are working within all our industries are going to need work permits now. Imagine the logistical nightmare it is to sort this out.

Agree, and even further we weren't load about Berahino. All the noise I can recall was from WBA telling the world what was going on, and Pearce trying to prove he was a big man. What has backfired spectacularly :levylol:
