Hello, all, I’ve noticed there is a lot of sympathy for the ‘Enic Out’ campaign among the Fighting Cock team, so here’s what I recently posted on a Guardian blog. Basically, I think you’re well wrong:

I think the anti-Levy brigade would do well to recognise that manager sackings is just fluff, and should be not the measure of a chairman’s success or otherwise.

There are other considerations that are far more important for a club – such as the state of its infrastructure, financial health, and league performance.

Over the course of the Enic era, our league performances have improved massively – only the last two seasons have seen a drop off in what is by necessity a hugely competitive environment.

A fantastic academy and training facility have been designed, built and nurtured.

We have financial stability where many clubs do not, and are inching closer towards a new stadium, which is absolutely vital to our prospects if we have any desire to compete with the top clubs.

Furthermore, we may not agree with every decision that Levy makes, but there is an identifiable logic to each step taken, and when issues arise – such as the failure of a number of signings in the wake of Bale’s sale – they are addressed.

We are not stagnating, we are continually making ambitious, positive moves that respond to whatever our circumstances – I don’t understand why so many people expect us to have a divine right to success, or why they think that the transition from where we were languishing 15 years ago to a top-four club should be smooth and plain-sailing.
