A small plea for Poch

Spurs fan JadeHotspur makes a small plea for Poch. Get behind him, support him and perhaps he could be the one we have been looking for all this time?

So my love affair with Pochettino has already began, just one day of him being in charge and I’m head over heels. Why? He’s not what many would consider a ‘top manager’. No trophies won, no titles, no top four. But I cannot help but feel really optimistic. Foolish I know. We are Spurs after all.

Mauricio Pochettino, Southampton's new manager, shows the strain at EspanyolMaybe it’s his lovely little round face or the fact he rarely speaks English to the press which makes him mysterious.

The football he had Southampton playing was exciting and attacking, something we at Spurs absolutely adore, so perhaps that’s it. Or Maybe I’m just happy he’s not Tim. Who knows?I guess only time will tell, if he’s given time of course.

Most of all I’m just sick to death of the managerial merry go round at Tottenham. It’s embarrassing and has left me clinging on to the hope that we have finally found ‘the one’. Of course I’m trying hard not to get too excited, I’ve had this feeling before when we appointed Villas Boas and we all know how that ended.

The key is that he’s given time. We shouldn’t judge before he’s had an opportunity to sort the squad out, at least not before the season begins; yet I’ve seen Spurs fans bickering about how he is not good enough already.

The expectancy of Tottenham’s fanbase has become insane over the last few seasons. We need to remember we’ve qualified for the Champions League once. Just once. We’d naturally love to achieve that again in the future, but as we are attracting a ‘world class manager’ with an array of trophies in tow was always going to be difficult if we’re being realistic [Although Levy is quoted as saying that Tottenham spoke to five people for the post – ED.]

Poch is young and exciting, a newbie to the Premier League, and admittedly there is still so much we don’t know and haven’t seen from this man. However, I’m backing Poch and I think most Spurs fans should. We have become so divided and bitter as a fan base it makes me sad, its time we just back the man in charge and give him a chance. Prove the doubters wrong Mauricio, please.

I’m sick of the merry-go-round too. And it’s just downright childish to write a man off before he’s had time to do his thing. He has proved he can get an average side to a respectable position in the PL. Saints have some stars, but they’re not ‘all-stars’, by any means. I think he can win over fans relatively easily – it’s all about the chairman. Impatience, thy name is Levy.

Totally agree with all of the above… As much as he wasn’t my first choice he comes with no baggage. He’s similar in personality to AVB that I admired that we finally had a manager with respect for the club, its fans and what we wanted. ive had enough of the twitcher style rants and comments and sh!t that came from Dim the last 6 months.

Its a new era and time to make this work… Will it?? Who know’s?? Only time will tell – but he needs to be backed!!!

Agree 100%. Not my first choice either but ow that he’s in the hot seat, we should all support him and give him time (a minimum of two seasons and 4 transfer windows) to allow him to shape the team to his liking. He is young, bright, shown promise and clearly has the confidence to take on a job that has the reputation of killing managers’ careers. Let’s back him and hope he is able to gain the squad’s respect and loyalty as he did at Soton. Good luck MoPo – we hope and believe. Show us the way and prove all the sorry muppets wrong!

Agree. We are not a top 4 side. We havent the resources….unlimited funding from abroad or a 70, 000 stadium. We might get top 4 in the right circumstances…..2/3 world class players, bit of luck, other teams in transition, good organisation of our resources, freedom from injuries etc. The margins arent great but we are top 6 material unless some things work in our favour. Dim and Avb lost the job because we were shocking against the top teams and showed we werent competitive. It wasnt their win ratio……it was how we looked against our competitors. Will Poch do better? He might as players seem to recover quicker from injury when the team is winning; he plays the right way; he will get them fitter so no “3 goals in last 10 minutes ” collapses; he might turn Lamella into our next worldie; he might buy a centre back with pace and presence. And I dont care about his track record…..look at Rodgers or Martinez and how they Improved the sides they took over. Its a gamble but we have to gamble.
