Jonathan Wilson, not to be confused with the bloke of The Guardian fame, is a US based, British writer who loves football. He grew up Jewish in London with a difficult home life, and there were many reasons to feel that he didn’t belong. The equaliser, for want of a better expression, to the difficulties faced was football. Through the beautiful game he found love that remains to this day.

In addition to the brilliant wit and anecdotes that litter his book – Kick and Run: Memoir with a Soccer Ball – we were especially interested in his thoughts on recent debate over our fan’s use of the word ‘yid’.

As a Spurs fan, moreover a jewish man, Jonathan discusses his thoughts on the matter, David Baddiel and the role of a Spurs fan now, tenuously or otherwise, linked with the plight of jewish people worldwide.
