A couple of weeks ago we had author, journalist and university lecturer Adam Powley on the show. Writer of many books about Tottenham, Adam spent on The Fighting Cock to talk a bit about the history of our great club. This isnt only because he has a coffee table style book out and Christmas is coming. That said, this is a book well worthy of your attention, and probably your money. And if you have no idea what to get the Old Man this year then you should consider this When Football Was Football: Tottenham Hotspur A Nostalgic Look at a Century of the Club.

h4948fullimageAs a kind gesture to The Fighting Cock and the swaying masses, Adam gave us three books to give away. All he wanted was for you to tell us your own nostalgic and rose-tinted memories of being Spurs.

We’ve received loads, which is part of the reason why there’s been a delay in picking the winners. We had three, then we got some more in, so the original three were no longer the winning three, and it went on and on, anyway, without further ado, the winners are:

Kevin Donovan – For how recounts the way, despite being born in Ireland, Tottenham captivated him.

Will Driscoll – For his memories about moving from north London to Bombay, India and getting up to watch the Spurs games on mute in his mother in-law’s front room.

Nathan Jones – For his goose-bump inducing story about a boy on a quest for a Tottenham shirt.

All three stories will be published on front page of The Fighting Cock in the coming week.
